Ade Due Damballa

"Ade Due Damballa. Give me the power, I beg of you.
Leveau mercier du bois chaloitte.
Secoise entienne mais pois de morte.
Morteisma lieu de vocuier de mieu vochette.
Endelieu pour du boisette damballa

Endelieu pour du boisette damballa
Endelieu pour du boisette damballa"

If you're an horror fan, you recognised Child's Play's famous voodoo spell.
A classic movie moment.

Here's the opening of the very first movie:
(well, the important part only)

With those words, Charles Lee Ray transferred his soul into a Chucky doll.
Oh, you noticed it isn't the exact same words as above? That's because this is the human-to-object voodoo ritual.
The one above was the opposite, object-to-human transfer.

"Ade due damballa. Give me the power I beg of you.
Secoise entienne mais pois de morte.
Morteisma lieu de vocuier de mieu vochette.
Endonline pour de boisette damballa!
Secoise entienne mais pois de morte.
Endelieu pour de boisette damballa!
Endelieu pour de boisette damballa!
Endelieu pour de boisette damballa!  "

What kinda language is that?
It may come out as french for non-french speakers, but it is in fact an old form of Haitian Creole.
Which fans translated to:

"To the almighty Damballa, give me the power I beg of you!
To the mercy of my soul.
To the point of my death.
Hear me out of from my condemned voice.
"

The movie's mythos is based on old Haitian Voodoo religion-legends.
And Damballa is a snake-god, to whom Chucky asks and begs to help him save his soul.

Trivia Eyz, a trivia a day~

Eyz does Wonder Woman!~

For the Daily Sketch Challenge over at the Outcast studios forums, I was able to finally try to draw Wonder Woman in her current new costume.

And I gotta say, it isn't that bad, like I already wrote about.

I gotta admit, shaking the WW mythos like this was a good idea from Straczynski. Not as series-defining and ground shaking as what Geoff Johns did with GL and The Flash, but at least people talked about this new costume on various medias. (which was honestly the point, I'm sure)
I didn't read much Wonder Woman comics myself, apart from George Perez's run. But I guess I'll be pickin' up this new arc in TPB later on.

I like the little Greek-ysh details of this costume.
I tried to give her a facial apparence as such.

Gamin' NEWS! A Vampyre Adventure Series

Fans of the adventure game A Vampyre Story will have a lot more to look for than just the upcoming A Vampyre Story 2 A Bat's Tale.

From Bill Tiller's site and Facebook, he confirmed AVS2 will still come out next year but another game will also be released.

Movie NEWS! TRON 2.0

Time to check out some of the stuff about the upcoming Tron: Legacy, since I tried to not watch a lot since I'm afraid modern-Hollywood will yet ruin another classic again.

It may turn out good.
But expecting worse will ease the pain in "case of.." :P

Movie NEWS! New (real) Resident Evil Movie

Forget those awful random hollywood lackbuster live Resident Evil movies by Paul Anderson!

Here's the teaser trailer to the new CGi flick Resident Evil: Damnation, coming in 2012 (!!).
It will be a sequel to the previously released Resident Evil: Degeneration.
It is set in the in-game universe (yay continuity!) and won't have the horrible shadow of Anderson over it.
(seriously those movies are just an excuse to a) show his wife naked b) make a Matrix ripoff c) use a well loved and known brand to sell the product)

Well, they didn't show a lot here...but it was still decent.

Movie NEWS! Green Hornet's car

Finally some (little) news about the upcoming Green Hornet movie!

Here's a first look at his car, the Black Beauty!

It's pretty faithful to the original's one.

I may not really be a big cars-kind of guy. But I like it!
Coming from the guy who only likes the Back to the future's car, Ghostbuster's and the Batmobile :P

Movie NEWS! American TINTIN

There's finally some pics, a glimps at the look of upcoming The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn live movie.
Well, not really "live". More like CGi with real life backdrops.

Anyway, more below...

The Walking Dead - 1st impressions

So, yesterday I was finally able to watch the 1st episode of the live TV series based on the post-zombie apocalypse comic The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman.

Here's my first thoughts and impressions based on just that:

I really loved it!
Really! One of the best comic-to-live adaptations I've ever seen :)
It really had a beautiful cinematic feel!
And I mean that, unlike most current "hollywood" garbage-movies we've had lately. Most real "movies" dond't even have a nice look and feel, now all the time we only get shaky cams, digital blue or yellow-ysh recolored pics, 3D-gimmick to sell tickets and no content.

Here Frank Darabont and co. made a fantastic product. He's gonna direct a lot of upcoming episodes, write most of them and supervise the show, soe I've got big hopes for the future of the series.

Great production values, great shots, angles, scenes..etc..

Simply put, an amazing zombie TV show who rivals any of those recent zombie flicks easily!
And quite faithful to boot!
