Well, a lot of people did complain back then about the off-physics, the camera, etc. So this is a complete overhaul of the game, from the ground up, new engine, etc. An update wouldn't work.
I'm fine with it, but I guess I kinda expected a new game instead, I like the joke about a new game Newka-Laylee at the end of the trailer. Very Banjo Tooie..

W..what?? What the heck?? An official Sega-licenced product called "SONIC X SHADOW"??
So the rumors were true...
Sonic Generations is back, the latest re-release following Sonic Colors Ultimate and Sonic Origins Plus. But instead of an Ultimate remaster we're getting an enhanced port and it's called:
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS!
Apparently it's a brand new experience with Shadow including a lot of stages from SA2 and Shadow the Hedeghog and a new story (I never expected to see Black Doom or the Black Arms return...!). The Biolizard boss fight from Generations 3DS. And "alongside" the classic complete Sonic Generations game.
Kind of like what Nintendo did Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, I'd say. Here's the trailer:
This means this year will really be "The Year of Shadow"! I'm expecting to see IDW do a Shadow one-shot like they did for Tails and Amy.
The game's coming in Autumn 2024!
Not only is this Sonic Dream Team a (timed?) exclusive to Apple Arcade, and a return to 3D platform for Sonic, and it has several playable characters.. but the game also has another lovely animated opening + kickass music from Tee Lopes?
Come on Sega, last time you did exclusives it was the awful Sonic Boom game or that generic Sonic Lost World (which this seems a tiny bit inspired by).

Big news, Sonic and Sega fans, while waiting for the Frontiers story DLC and Sonic Origins Plus, Sega just announced a brand new Sonic sidescroller! But not another Mania with lovely 2D artstyle, not even a Sonic 4-situation. Instead we have a modern sidescroller with Sonic Generation-style visuals!
Looking gorgeous! I like how Amy is being incorporated into "Team Sonic" lately. I feel like a modern Sonic Heroes would had Amy part of Sonic's team now. (Which also makes you wonder for the upcoming Sonic Movie 3...).
Retro designs! New powerups with the Emeralds! New animated cutscenes! And Fang the Sniper is back, finally! Also Sonic fans rejoice, Sonic co-creator Naoto Ohshima is back with Sega and Sonic Team and he will be designing a brand new character for the adventure (rumored to be some sort of armored pangolin people have seen in leaked material).

Here's something new, the "Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection" which basically contains every single entry in the WB/Monster World series, not counting for modern entries or remakes. Only really missing the Adventure Island Wonder Boy 1-inspired subseries, but the owners of that series are Hudson Soft, so I'm guessing the rights lie at Konami nowadays.

This is looking both pretty interesting and intriguing, and a tad bit generic/empty, as far as I'm concerned with open world/sandbox game designs. That's why I usually prefer shorter arcadey-type games. Wait and see...

People are raving, I like to see these modern update get the physical treatment AND on console. Being able to play as the other characters, widescreen format and new challenges and bonus gimmicks. But I would love to see some more games get included in a compilation for once. Chaotix, come on! It's part of the original run if you include Sonic CD! Or even add some odd trivia like SegaSonic the arcade title and such..
Anyways, the new music and animation looks lovely and I'm all for it. Will these be included as cutscenes IN the games??
The new Kirby looks both epic on a Breath of the Wild kind of scale. But also funny and story-driven like Mario Odyssey. Like the next obvious step in Nintendo's current take on their franchises. I dig it!
Might be the first Kirby I check out in a really long while.
The two first Klonoa games are getting a re-release on the Switch!
I can already imagine the game won't have a physical... outside Japan. So get to Playasia and pre-order it once you can!
He's back! Kao the Kangaroo! (The original Dreamcast game was a neat if super-easy Crash Bandicoot-like clone.)
And it seems he's taking a lot of cues from Crash Bandicoot 4, specifically the art style:

We get some ideas how the game might turn out/the scope of the game.. but nothing new really. No gameplay visual/footage... Wait and see..

Sonic Frontiers is arriving Holiday 2022!
Lots of harsh critics already. But you know what? I'm ready to re-try this enhanced Wii game.
It wasn't one of my favorites, never was. It doesn't make Top 5 in my own list, probably not even Top 10, to be honest. But I liked the funny zany cartoon-vibe from it. And so far from all the remixes I heard, I kinda prefer the new Re-Color OST already over the original songs.
And here's the new game along the original (on a repro card I got since the early 2000s).
Maybe I can showcase my entire Wonder Boy/Monster World collection one of these days, heh?
