#GamingNEWS Project Rap Rabbit announced

The creator of Parappa the Rapper, Masaya Matsuura and Keiichi Yano of Gitaroo Man announced a new musical game! That's right, both creator will team up to bring back a new rhythm-based adventure!

Project Rap Rabbit will be a collaboration between their respective studios, NanaOn-Sha and iNiS.

Check out this first teaser:

I haven't played any musical game since the days of Parappa/Um Jammer Lammy and Space Channel. Modern music games are basically just QTE-based music playlists. It will be great to have another fun cartoon-y musical game.

Wait and see~

VGR Major Minor's Majestic March

Last time I said was our last dip into the PaRappa series, but technically there's one last final game that is, sort of, part of the series.

How about leading a marching band?

You Gotta Believe these PaRappa-related reviews!

VGR PaRappa 2

It's time for one last dip!

Here it is, music composer/game creator Masaya Matsuura's last PaRappa game (to this day!).
He still produces some musical games from time to time (such as the Vib-Ribbon series), but not as often as in the 90s. And no more PaRappa for the time being.

Don't miss out my previous PaRappa-related reviews!

#Interview - Rodney Greenblat

Rodney Alan Greenblat
Here's a pretty fun interview I found from PaRappa the Rapper and UmJammer Lammy "mother" Rodney Greenblat!

It's from way back in 2005, but still a pretty fun and insightful interview nonetheless.

If you're a fan of those games, be sure to give it a look!
He discusses the creation of the game from the mind of Masaya Matsuura and his studio Nanaonsha, his participation and how Sony was responsible for all the downfalls (the low sales of the games and the execution of PaRappa 2)

Give it a look ;)

And after some delays, here's finally my playthrough and review of PaRappa's first sequel, the guitar themed musical game UmJammer Lammy!

#OpeningTheme - PaRappa the Rapper: the anime series

So like I said in my PaRappa review, in the late 90s, PaRappa reached a big enough popularity to spin off sequels, merchandising and even an anime series!

The anime was produced a bit after Um Jammer Lammy and just before the 2nd game on the PS2. It was probably made to promote that game's upcoming release.

But besides the obscurity aspect (never got out of Japan), it was a bit cheap and silly.
The art style wasn't well represented (honestly? I'd have preferred the characters to stay 2-dimensional instead of giving 'em volume). Also music/rap wasn't a big part of this cartoon.
And Joe Chin was changed for a younger rival. And Lammy was replaced by a more cliché anime character...

Anyway, the best part is without a doubt the intro:

Fun, rhythmed, well animated, I like the opening video.
Much better than the episodes themselves.

And here there's some segments were the characters are actually paper thin!

VGR PaRappa Rappa

As a Sega fan, I tend to have a longer history with Sega games and consoles. Even so, that never stopped me from playing other games "on the other side of the fence".

Since people have been asking me to review some good Playstation games over on deviantArt, I decided to give it a shot with an all-time classic...
