#Blog #Doom Classic Collection from Limited Run

After half a year of patiently waiting for it - I know, there's a whole pandemic, etc. - but I waiting for a long time for this one. In the meantime I received the Limited Run Games-as well re-release of Doom 64 on Switch. The Doom helmet replica. (Still waiting for a physical release of Doom Eternal on Switch.. one can dream!)

But here it is. The beautiful old school PC-style collector's box. A much better collection than the half-digital one on PS4 or the messy BFG Edition from last gen.

With a ton of lovely goodies - specially one piece I have a few words to say below!

The traditional steelbook. A Red Key replica (?) A keychain. A modern day-reprint of a floppy disk - gonna take out my floppy disk reader just for that one! I have to check it out!

And the FRIGGIN' DOOM COMIC?!! YESSSS!!!

RIIIIIP AND TEAAAAR!! 

I suppose it's canon again now thanks to Doom Eternal's multiple references to it.

We almost have the complete (physical) Doom series on the Switch now!

COME ON, LIMITED RUN! Put it on a special bigger collector cartridge! And then you can put up a little boxset to collect all 4 games. Like you did with Shantae or Crysis!!

DO IT!!

And now let's go back to the main piece.

Let's be honest, I would have gotten this collection just for the reprint of the epic cult classic Doom comic!

It already was a rare piece, which most of us Doom fans read online on scans. GT Interactive never made much copies of it, back then.

And I already missed the first reprint when I missed the id Anthology, which annoyed me for years... (Containing modern CD physical copies of the Keen series as well!)

Now I had to grab this for this new reprint of the Rip And Tear-Classic.

And the colors and paper quality is great, so I'm super happy with it.

This is HUUUUUUGE!! Because it has HUUUUGE GUTS!!!

So today I had to go to DHL to receive a big package...and as soon as I opened and found the Doom 64's Nintendo Switch Limited run collector's edition I knew something special had just arrived...

(btw my package was damaged on sight... sigh..)

#GamingNEWS DOOM 64 – Official Announce Trailer

For the release of the latest installement, Doom Eternal, Doom 64 is finally getting an (official) PC port, as well as getting released on Xbox 1, PS4 and Switch. And like the classic Dooms back with the Doom 3 BFG edition, Doom 64 is also getting a brand new additional episode-campaign! That's some awesome news, and a great excuse to replay it once more.



I love Doom 64. I always felt it was the perfect missing link between Doom 2 and Doom 3 in its gameplay and atmosphere (developed by Midway or not). And it even works nicely as a prequel to Doom 2016. So it's nice to see it getting re-released.

Hey everyone.

This week marked the big E3 2019 even, in LA. You know what? I've been mostly offline this past week. So I finally decided to catch it all in one sitting. And boy, there's been quite a few great new announcements, tidbits, trailers and some occasional goofy and cringe moments in what was yet another packed E3 experience.

Since this is my page, let's only recap the things I'm interested in or I've something to say about.

#MovieNEWS DOOM: ANNIHILATION (2019) Exclusive Trailer "We Call it Hell" HD

The new Doom movie went from bad to worse. That's right this supposedly better reboot is looking way too similar to the previous awful The Rock Doom movie AND it went from a theatrical release to a direct-to-video. Expect the worse:



And this time it doesn't have the fun presence of a Karl Urban or Dwayne Johnson to save it....

Yikes...

I'm actually fairly certain I already posted this here on my blog once or twice on the past, but since I just found it again - here it is once more!

This is a video of Bill Gates announcing the Microsoft port of Doom as well as the arrival of Windows 95! Which marked the turn of games being played via DOS to Windows, a big moment in gaming history. Here's the promo video:

#IDSOFTWARE NEWS! DOOM 4 Campaign Trailer

It feels a bit weird to write this post right after the Joe Alaskey one, but here goes.

Bethesda just released a brand new trailer for the upcoming new DOOM game. And it is looking quite fantastic! Enjoy:



This is looking GREAT! I particularly love the over-saturated colors of this game. The demons look great and really pop up on screen! BLAM! HEADSHOOT!!

Can't wait to face Hell on Mars. Again!

#DeletedScenes - Scrapped DOOM 3DO FMV

Doom is such a fun memorable cult classic. And it got ported on so many different systems... Did you know the 3DO port almost feature FMV??

That's right! For some reason, the 3DO version - which is often unquestionably called one of the worst ports of the game - almost joined in the FMV trend that was popular on CD-ROM-based systems at the time.

The team at Art Data make some tests, but they finally ditched the idea since it was quite difficult to pull of (and kinda ridiculous). Here's the only ever confirmation we ever got of this, recently on twitter:

I have no idea what is going on here. Is that a small un-cyber Cyberdemon or some butchered Baron? Who are these people?! Where's the Doomguy when you need him...

I dunno for you, don't let the internet tell you otherwise, but this looks awesome to me! Granted, I do love me some fun cheesy FMV games (I even take those over modern generic blockbuster films any day!)

I wish they’d gone with that! At least it would have made that 3DO port fun and memorable!
