Here's something pretty fun, if pretty random: a CGi recreation of the fight between Vader and old Ben Kenobi done in the style of the Prequel trilogy. But inserted back into the original film:



This was pretty well crafted and brilliantly done by FXitinPost. I actually loved it.

But please, don't give Disney or George Lucas any ideas...

#StarWars - Fanmade modern SW trailers REMIXED

Someone (well this guy Tom F) made some modern remixed trailers for the original Star Wars trilogy. And it looks pretty awesome with that great song John Williams composed for The Force Awakens trailer (which sadly WASN'T in the new film's lackluster soundtrack - my only real complaint about the film personally!).

Check them out, they're awesome, well made and well worth your while!







Y...eah. Watching these like this, I noticed I really prefer the originals over the new film, no dish against Abrams though.

Here is something fun! It's a young Mark Hamill explaining the original Star Wars on the BBC back in the 70s, before the world even knew what Star Wars would be like:



I love the way it clearly establishes how much closer to fantasy/fairy tales SW actually is instead of scifi:

“It’s the stuff that fairytales are made of. We have a fairy princess, we have an innocent farm boy who yearns for adventure. Alec Guinness is a wise old wizard who teaches me a mystical Force, somewhat like Merlin would teach a young King Arthur. Some people are already in love and awe in face of the trailer of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars.

And making spoofs of it, "What if George Lucas was directing Episode VII":



(say what you want, but that end clip with the Millenium Falcon flying through an armada of Tie-Fighters looked neat! - in an over-the-top kind of way)

I'm sorry but what's with this trendy thing to hate Lucas, prequels or not. I mean, I love Abrams and all (huge Fringe & Lost fan over here), but why would you believe he's gonna make anything better than the prequels? Honestly? Myself, I'm expecting something exactly like the prequels. If anything, with more annoying modern trends such as shaky cams and 3D/Image-specific footage and about the same level of CGi effects & whatnot!

His first Mission Impossible film was great, but come on. I don't want an "Into Darkness"-style SW film!!

Before the upcoming Disney films, before there was a Star Wars franchise, before the trilogy and even before there was "A New Hope" - there simply was "Star Wars"...

Disney buys Star Wars

So, by now you probably heard it or read it already.
Disney just bought the entire Star Wars IP from LucasFilm.

Yikes!

What I liked about Lucas recently was that George Lucas took his retirement not long and said the Star Wars films were over. You might like or dislike the prequels, but with Episode 1 to 6 it made for one long continuous single storyline - leaving the rest, expanded universe, games, tv series open to play around.

So what does Disney do right away?
Announced Star Wars Episode VII for 2015!!
With two more sequels expected to be released in 2017 and 2019, respectively!!

Negative feels:
I'm pretty sure the new movies won't even try to accommodate or play around the EU, but just plain erase it...
Disney love acquiring money making series and sort of don't care much after that. After a decent but forgettable Prince of Persia movie adaptation and a decent but forgettable Tron movie sequel.... I'm partially sure these new movies will end up pretty forgettable (and therefore even more so than the prequels - which are mostly damaged by too much CGi, read on this old blog analysis!)

On the plus side:
Heck! If they might make something similar to Avengers' level of quality...
(let's not kid ourselves, that might have been mostly part thanks to Joss Whedon...)

I truly feel like an entire era of Star Wars history has passed here, and a new era has begun.
Good.
Bad.
Only time will tell about that - but one way or another, everything in this franchise will changed forever now!

Oh, and Princess Leia is now officially a Disney Princess too.

Oh, and another point I just thought about.
If you can judge things from past experience, what with Disney cancelling the awesome Spectacular Spider-man (the best Spider-man animated series in years!!!) to replace it by their own Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-man series (which got my attention in the first episode but is just too bad, ,cheap, childish and annoying) - they will probably never let that live Star Wars series happen (but it was coming full circle, a movie series inspired by old serials going back to the TV series format!!) and they'll probably can the amazing Clone Wars before its coming up conclusion for something much worse.

And it seems "Disney didn't buy Star Wars"...
They bought the entire LucasFilms and all its subsidiary companies. Yes, that means ILM, THX, LucasArts, etc. It seems they were able to get in there thanks to Lucas recently taking his retirement not long ago. (remember when he said there would be no more Star Wars movie?) And that means all of Lucas IPs! And fans asking for a Willow 2 or another American Graphitti? The PR guy from Disney sounded pretty surprised, guess they don't even know or care they got these IPs from their deal, they're mostly interested in the lucrative Star Wars expanded universe deal and toy merchandise. Oh, and expect an Indiana Jones 5 for 2014 (even though it still is co-owned by Paramount in part)

I sure took my time to finally decide myself I should review this one at some point.
Like the previous ones, let's give it a fare chance.

Deleted Scenes - Star Wars audition tapes

Before Star Wars was synonymous with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford (amongst others) a bunch of other actors auditioned for the role for Han Solo.

A lot of these guys have since then become pretty famous and went on to play various other iconic characters, but back then they were all in competition for the role of Han.
Can you imagine what the SW movies would have been like with someone else than Ford in this particular role? (or what would have become of him, Lucas and Spielberg wouldn't have picked him up for Indiana Jones after that!)
