#E3 Day 3 - Nintendo swoops in

This E3's been pretty boring if you ask around. But aside from a few titles nothing really caught my attention.

Then Nintendo came in with the return of several of their classic franchises, and everyone's losing their pants! Even though I'm not a huge fan of their newly announced games, it's nice to see them bring a strong game to help keep the Switch "relevant" (for the lack of a better word).

VGR Rayman Origins

My favorite platformer game in ages. Actually probably also one of my favorite games this past decade!

Rayman seemed to have completely fall off the radar, but he had the chance to get a great comeback, with a lot of style to boot!

#Nintendo NEWS! Hyrule Warriors new addition - Female Link, Linkle REVEALED!

Nintendo just announced a new addition to the already huge roster of Hyrule Warriors - Linkle, a female incarnation of Link!

Apparently she will be added to the roster of the 3DS re-release of the game and a DLC for the Wii U version.

Awesome! People have been wanting for a different incarnation of Link for ages. Me? Personally I was tired of the generic Ocarina of Time-ysh Link we've been getting every new game for so long. (Hey! I miss brown/pink-haired Link from the older games.. even the animated series Link would be a much better pick).

And to the haters out there - You know we get a new different Link each game? So Cartoon Link wasn't a problem for you, but female Link is? How hypocrite of you guys...

Anyways, crybabies aside, here's the trailer:

Awesome! Looks like she kicks ass with her crossbows!

#DeletedScenes - ObsCure D

Remember the games ObsCure and ObsCure II The Aftermath I reviewed in the past?

In those previous reviews I talked about this scrapped sequel Hydravision never got to develop. And then they went bankrupt, brought the studio back and then became Mighty Rocket Studios.

Any possible ObsCure 2 or spinoff game would be put on hold. Until a few of those ideas made it back into the unrelated (spinoff?) sidescroller beat 'em all Final Exam. So what happened to ObsCure D?

#SDCC 2015 News! "Legend of the Gnome Gemulets" Gravity Falls game

Good News, Everyone!

Not only did Gravity Falls' epic trailer for the upcoming episodes totally rock this year's SDCC in my eyes, but they also announced at the same GF panels we would be getting our first Gravity Falls video game!

Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets!

And what's more, it appears to be a sidescroller Action-RPG in the same vein as that Adventure Time game I really liked (think Zelda 2).

Here's the official trailer:

And a few screenshots:

Exactly the way I imagined it! I'm sure a lot of fans would have prefered a huge open-world 3D-type of game on the main consoles, but without a big enough budget I don't think they could pull off a decent tie-in game adaptation. And this looks pretty good and fun if you ask me.

The official announcement:

ENTER THE WORLD OF GRAVITY FALLS
Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets, powered by the acclaimed UbiArt Framework game engine, brings the look and feel of the show to Nintendo 3DS systems. Lush backgrounds and beautiful graphics allow you to explore your favorite places from the show, such as the Mystery Shack and the Gnome Forest, like never before!
PLAY AS BOTH DIPPER AND MABEL
Help the siblings work together, with dual character gameplay. Switch between characters at any time and use their unique powers and abilities to complement one another:
• Dipper is bestowed with Gnome Battle Cuffs which deliver powerful punches at close range, and keeps his trusty flashlight by his side to shed light on the many mysteries in Gravity Falls.
• Mabel wields the Fleece of Bedazzlement that lets her whip her sweater sleeves to attack monsters from afar, and her grappling hook is at the ready to help access areas otherwise out of reach.
SOLVE AN ALL-NEW MYSTERY
Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets features a new, original adventure. Unravel the mystery to learn new lore about the inhabitants of Gravity Falls and unlock secrets of the town’s past.
MADE IN COLLABORATION WITH CREATOR ALEX HIRSCHCreator and executive producer of Gravity Falls, Alex Hirsch, brings the show’s signature humor and fan-favorite elements to the game. Involved throughout the development of the game on character design, artwork, story, and script, Alex has helped to create an authentic experience for fans.
The game's coming on 3DS later this year, on November 3!

#E3 NEWS! Day 3 - Eidos, Nintendo, PC and stuff

And here is our last E3-related posted, probably. I don't expect to see any more surprises since now the conferences are all over and it's mostly gameplay from the showfloor coming up.

Nintendo conference was quite crazy, but the rest of the reveals was kinda lackluster if you ask me. There's also some stuff coming from a PC conference, which was really bad. But, hey, new Deus Ex footage!

#E3 NEWS! Hyrule Warriors 3DS Trailer

Hyrule Warriors on the 3DS sounds... pretty fun. Well, okay, it's basically the same game. But they added Tetra and the King (aka Wind Waker's boat!)! YES! Check the trailer till the end:

Hope the King gets some alternate costumes which allows us to play with some earlier Kings. MAH BOI, if you know what I mean.

And I also hope this gets added to the main Wii U version, since that's the one I will probably end up (finally) getting.

#E3 NEWS! Ryu joins SMASH

Of course I've seen the news, Ryu from Street Fighter will be added to Super Smash Bros. for Wi U! After rumors since as early as April, it has finally been officially confirmed by Nintendo.

Enjoy the reveal trailer:

They're also adding a few others odd paid DLC characters, new stages (including Ryu's classic SF2 stage), new music, etc.

While this is pretty neat, I still have yet to play/buy this game. Heck, I also wanted to try Splatoon and I haven't so far. I mean, I was super hyped for Hyrule Warriors, and I don't even have that one either. I'm not one for "Day 1" releases... Oh, well.

Anyways - it's a nice addition, he looks nice. Like Nintendo actually has some respect for the character unlike Capcom, 'really liked the little nods to the original game. Enjoy his remixed theme song for Smash:

#SegaPlaymore NEWS! Sonic gets a cold burn. BOOM!

I've just decided I'm gonna refer to modern Sega as "Sega Playmore" from now on. Like SNK Playmore, it's not really the same and all the original creators are now longer not working there. (I'll do the same with Capcom and Konami too)

ANYWAYS! "Sega Playmore" has just announced a new Sonic game! I mean, a new game based on Sonic Boom!

"Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice"! Now that's cheesy as heck and perfect for the series.

But I can already hear some nerds "The Sonic Boom game was awful! How are they even making another one!?" Because: $$$. Easy as that.

More seriously, the "franchise" as a whole is successful. The cartoon's pretty popular, believe it or not (personally I find it a bit too childish, but I guess that was the idea...). The toys/plush/merch's selling great. And despite what people said about the Wii U game, the 3DS Sonic Boom got a lot of decent reviews.

So it's not a surprise they only announced a new game for the 3DS this time! Here's the trailer:

The game won't be in the hands of the hacks behind the Wii U title but the same 3DS time, it will be developed by Sanzaru Games again. Here's a few screens:

If they can fix some details from the previous game, I genuinely belive they make a good game this time. But there seems to be too many gimmick-y gameplay elements for my taste..

#Gaming NEWS! New Adventure Time game

There's a new Adventure Time game coming! And this time it's going to be a full 3D "next gen" AT. And the first one not developed by WayForward.

The game's titled Adventure Time: Finn & Jake Investigations. It's the first non-smartphone 3D AT game. It's developed by Vicious Cycle Software. And apparently it will be a throwback to ol' adventure games with some investigating, puzzle-solving and interaction with the different characters through this huge open world where you will be able to visit all kinds of locations from the show.

And also, it seems to take place during the show’s sixth season. Here's some beta footage:

Here's the official pitch:
Jake’s mother and father, who also raised Finn – were seasoned detectives back in the days before becoming parents. They received their assignments from a machine called the “tickertype,” which printed out information on various cases. Now, Finn and Jake have unearthed the tickertype and decide to go into the investigation business themselves.

And a few screenshots to go along:

The game's expected to be released later this year for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS and Wii U!

#YujiNaka NEWS! Rodea the Sky Soldier lives!

Rodea the Sky Soldier lives!

That's right!

Wait, you don't know what it is? It was supposed to be Sonic's creator/founder of Prope studio Yuji Naka's new game for the Wii.. which got delayed... forgotten... lost its distributor, etc.. Then the Wii made the way for the Wii U... and it seems to be finally back on track! With a new distributor, etc. Not release outside Japan planned, but...

Anyways, here's the new trailer:

It's looking pretty nice! In a NiGHTS meet Kid Icarus/Panzer Dragoon-sort of way. Very arcade-ysh.

#As - Super Smash Bros the 3DS commercials

Alright.

Most of that looked awkward, and almost cringe-worthy...

Still, check it out for yourself:

These don't have a thing on the old 64 commercial:

#PAX NEWS! New Sonic Boom Trailer

And so it starts...

Here's a new trailer for the Wii U game Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, which shows an old familiar face... albeit, err, "Boom-ified":

Featuring some gameplay from the 3DS version as well as an old familiar grumpy 'hog!
