Oh my!!! This is actually looking pretty darn good and epic! I do like to have more of the DC Universe in this, big fan of the comics and old cartoons. That's my kinda DCU personally.
The new DC CW show is here. And while I doubt I'm going to go back to all that, you gotta appreciate all the little nods and references put into the first scene of the new show Superman & Lois!
Lots of great references, making this series reference basically all of Superman's history.
The Golden Age costume, the first cover of Action Comics, Man of Steel, the Christopher Reeve Superman films. Heck even a little line "Thanks, my mom made it for me." from one of my favorite, Superman for All Seasons, by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale!
Marvel might be kicking ass on the big screen. But DC's been kicking ass on the small screen for a pretty long while.
Who expected to ever see a live action adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths... on TV... on the CW of all things??
Here's the epic trailer for this crossover extravaganza:
The five-part Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover begins on Supergirl December 8, continuing through Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.
I haven't kept up with SyFy's weird KRYPTON show. But from the look of things they've pulled some impressive stuff including a really good live action Brainiac. And looks like season 2 will have Doomsday AND more importantly The Main Man himself, LOBO!!!!
Aquaman's been looking pretty good in the last few official posters:
It's a big departure from how Zack Snyder originally presented Aquaman (or the whole DC "murderverse" to be honest..):
It looks bright, it looks colorful, it looks fun. And I hope the actual movie follows suit (and we don't end up with another Suicide Squad... yikes!). Here's the rest of the cast:
Black Manta is absolutely perfect! And how come I didn't know Willem Dafoe was in this movie?!?
And while we're on the subject of DC Comics, the CW just released this pic to reveal their Lois Lane to appear in a later episode of the show Supergirl:
Very Christopher Reeves/Richard Donner Superman, I love it! They even gave her the same outfit that doesn't seem particularly appropriate to hang out in a cold fortress of solitude.. Also a way to announce how different their take is from the Man of Steel-universe.
Before Nolan, David Goyer and specially Zack Snyder got their hands all over the Justice League movie, Mad Max/Babe director George Miller was supposed to make the JLA live action film!
Like we already saw, it was going to be a film very much inspired by the DCU from the late 90s/2000s, with a similar roster of heroes and a similar type of story (with OMACs, etc.)
And now we can finally have a look at the only picture we'll ever have of George Miller's scrapped Justice League movie. A very blurry tiny pixelated pic of the JLA roster, but a picture no less!
It might look a bit weird and a bit cheesy. But it's certainly a lot more colorful and faithful than what we ultimately received. I particularly love Wonder Woman, the Martian Manhunter and the Flash! And even the silly looking Superman might have looked decent on actual screen, with post-prod effects and whatnot.
People like the bonkers non-sensical prequel/Elseworld show Gotham? Were kid-Bruce Wayne and kid-Catwoman are put aside to let young-Gordon face future villains arrived way too early like Hugo Strange, Mister Freeze, The Penguin or even a kid-Poison Ivy-turned adult-turned into another random actress later?
Well, now they will be doing the same to Superman with Krypton! A prequel series about Kal-El's family before Krypton exploded. But wait, that would be a pretty boring political drama on an alien planet. So of course we're gonna end up seeing the House of El face future villains like Brainiac, I'm sure. Maybe even the likes of Metallo, Doomsday and more! And they will be joined by Adam Strange arrived way too early on a different planet from Rann for no reason, other than the fact the CW's not using him right now.
Check this out:
I might check out just the pilot to see how bad it is, but I'm not expecting much from goddamn' David Goyer (Yes, Blade 3-David Goyer...)
Do you know GOTHAM? A crazy prequel TV show based around Batman but actually featuring a vigilante-like Commissioner Gordon instead, long before little Bruce Wayne became The Batman? But someone they started inserting every possible elements of the Bat-mythos without having an actual Batman around (the Riddler, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, a proto-Joker, Poison Ivy, almost-Harley Quinn... you name it!):
Wow! The new seasons are looking pretty crazy now (I've long ditched this show..).
Well, Warner Bros. and David S. Goyer are planning to do the same with Superman now! KRYPTON! A crazy prequel TV show based around Superman but actually featuring asuperhero -like Kal-El grandfather instead, long before little Clark Kent became Superman! No kidding!
Man... what's with all these prequels?! Didn't nerds decide the Star Wars Prequels were bad because they were prequels mostly and we shouldn't get any more prequels!? Come on, nerds! Do your internet-outrage-thingie!!
