#MarvelNEWS Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings | Official Teaser

 Let me take this occasion, this subjet, to make a little tangent.

Did you know the early Mortal Kombat games were mostly inspired by the 1970s Marvel Kung-Fu-sploitation comics? That's right. Back then there were no talks of big movie companies holding the IPs, etc. Netherrealm Studios, then-Midway, just took inspiration from all these classic comic book heroes to creatre their own kung-fu-inspired gory fighting game. And thus Iron Fist inspired Johnny Cage (even keeping his green-glowing iron fist into some of his signature attacks to this day). Luke Cage inspired Jaxx. And Shang-Chi inspired Liu Kang as the de-facto hero of the franchise. Several other comic book elements would then inspired other elements like Kano, Raiden and even the dragon-transformation-animality/brutality.

Anyways-

Now, I love Liu Kang in the recent Mortal Kombat games. I hope Shang-Chi is half as good, fun, heroic and badass as Liu Kang.

Looks off to a good start.

And by that I mean the real original Karate Kid, not the Will Smith son Kung Fu Kid Karate Kid reboot.

It even stars the original actors Ralph Macchio (Daniel-san) and William Zabka (Johnny) again, reprising their roles!

I love how JCVD is always a good sport.

On Conan, to announced Kickboxer 2, Van Damme got to redo his cult classic dancing scene from his 1989 movie Kickboxer:



Haha! I love how casually those extras were there, ready to try kicking his ass.

No split though? Aww.. Well, recreating that quickly and live would have been difficult, plus the man was wearing jeans. Don't worry Jean-Claude, you already did plenty in you career. You don't have to prove anything to anyone.

#Random - TMNT Style: Ninja Turtles Homage

Where the new TMNT movie really seems lacking in my eyes from the looks of the trailer - nerd-rage regarding the story/designs aside - for me, really is the whole martial arts angle. And this fault might be mostly on the fact they will be using CGi turtles.

And CGi always feels and looks so loose on film... No matter how many billion dollars they might have, how shiny or polished CGi will look.

And yeah, I know they used some stunt guys for the motion capture. But don't expect much from them.

(on a side -not-related-but-relevant- note: not Asian martial artists? No Asian actors? No Asian voice actor? For a supposedly "Ninja" film, you don't even have a single Japanese person involved in it??? Not even for the stunts, Shredder or Splinter? Man, the original movie was so much better handheld...)
