#Blog Wonder Boy/Monster World Complete Collection!

Here's something new, the "Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection" which basically contains every single entry in the WB/Monster World series, not counting for modern entries or remakes. Only really missing the Adventure Island Wonder Boy 1-inspired subseries, but the owners of that series are Hudson Soft, so I'm guessing the rights lie at Konami nowadays.

Anyways, made a little tribute video to show the goodies as well as my own collection of Wonder Boy / Monster World games:

#Blog Asha In Monster World!

So today I finally received it... Asha in Monster World!

The remake/expanded/new take on Monster World IV!
The game is awesome, it comes with the original title (in fact the manual covers both versions of Asha's adventure)! The original is perfect as always - fans of Shantae check out the title/series that inspired Wayforward's series. The new game kinda reminds me of the Tomba! series with the new 3D graphics and cartoony style.

And here's the new game along the original (on a repro card I got since the early 2000s).

Maybe I can showcase my entire Wonder Boy/Monster World collection one of these days, heh?

#GamingNEWS Forspoken – Annonce officielle | PS5 et PC

The new game from the FFXV team Square Enix's Project Athia has now been retitled into Forspoken.

Several things changed. People are calling it a new Destiny, imaging this as a "game service" with lootboxes and all.. I still just hope this is a new FFXV-style solo RPG...

Wait and see...

Check out the new trailer:

Coming in 2022!

#SEGAnews Asha in Monster World trailer #2

There's a new trailer out for the latest Wonder Boy entry! You know, the retro classic series that just keeps on giving... (I need to post a pic of my WB/Monster World collection so far, with all the official entries and spiritual successors..)

You know, the semi-sequel to Monster World IV, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World!

And.. I gotta say, this new trailer is pretty darn good. I'm loving what I see. Much better than the older trailer. Looks fun, colorful, with lots of improvements:

With this and the new Alex Kidd, it certainly seems to confirm this GO SEGA 60th Anniversary-year

#GamingNEWS Summer in Mara - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch

I learnt about this game the other day, thanks to a Switch news update.

It looks quite lovely. Like a nice mix of action-rpg adventure and sim building. Perfect post-Animal Crossing time waster.

And the visuals look nice:

#GamingNEWS Shantae and the Seven Sirens - Teaser Trailer

I've been certainly more quiet over this ol' blog in these last few months.

These are some crazy times we're livin' in. And some people definitively aren't helping the situation.

Not to go into full details about work, but let's just say all things considered this has been the worst year of my life EASY. And the same goes for my work colleagues...

ANYHOW

We're here to talk g33k stuff, aren't we? And something that was a light of hope amidst a really long and difficult day...

The new trailer and the announcement of the mainstream consoles port of Shantae and the Seven Sirens! Along with the Limited Run physical release pre-order. And here it is:

Thank you, Wayforward, for bringing this into our life!

#GamingNEWS NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... | Teaser

Wow! This is seriously the best news I've heard in a long time, since we've all been confined to our homes in these annoying difficult times...

The original NiER Gestalt/Replicant is getting upgraded, enhanced and re-released on the current gen PS4/X1/PC!

2B might have my gaming heart, but I much prefer the music, atmosphere and story of the original game.

Here's a little teaser trailer showing the enhanced new environments:

I'll be honest. I'd rather see a new game really.. but more Yoko Taro is always good news. And maybe this can help build the hype and finance a possible new game, like Swery's re-release of the original Deadly Premonitions.

#GamingNEWS FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE new trailer

This game is looking better. I'm just so excited to see the classic environments and characters get a Hi-Def photorealistic lifting. Oh, and also, we finally get a look at cross-dressing Cloud (and some Chocobos!!!):

#Openingtheme Indivisible Animated Opening by Studio TRIGGER and Titmouse (FULL VERSION)

More games should get animated opening videos!

We already had anime studio TRIGGER reveal their opening for Shantae 5. And now we just found out they will co-produce the animated opening to Indivisible, along US cartoon studio Titmouse.

Check out Studio TRIGGER and Titmouse's intro for Lab Zero's Indivisible:

It looks absolutely gorgeous! And it reminds me I was really waiting for this game a while ago. Almost completely forgot about it...!

#GamingNEWS FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE Tokyo Game Show 2019 trailer

Alright, they somehow did I it.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS GAME, even though it's going to be an incomplete game! I like the FFXV-esque visuals. I dig the updated look and gameplay. Heck, I'll just replay the original from time to time whenever I miss the classic game style.

But it really annoys me this is gonna be an episodic remake and we'll barely start the adventure outside of Midgar when it will be "TO BE CONTINUUED"...

THE GAME LOOKS SO GODDAMN GOOD!! I love the look at how updated cast!!

FFVII Remake comes out on March 3, 2020.

#OpeningTheme Shantae 5 - Studio TRIGGER Opening Animation

While I've been desperately waiting for some news regarding Shantae 5WayForward came forward (no pun intended) with this awesome tidbit of news: renowned anime studio Trigger is making the opening intro of the new game (and the cutscenes?). Check out this awesome video, with singing from noneother than Shantae's VA:

And here's the official press release blurb:
Presenting the Opening Animation for Shantae 5, created by none other than the revered Studio TRIGGER! TRIGGER producer Naoko Tsutsumi (Little Witch Academia) collaborated with Shantae creator Erin Bozon (Futurama) and Matt Bozon (series director) to bring the Shantae characters to life. Vocals for the opening were performed by Cristina Vee (Miraculous Ladybug), featuring an original composition by Mark Sparling and musical arrangement by Maddie Lim.

#GamingNEWS Shantae 5!!

Best announcement of this past month so far - Wayforward's working on Shantae 5!!

Perfectly timed announcement, since I just finished my run through all 4 original games yesterday!

No news on Shantae 5 so far outside the fun clever logo. And the artstyle seems slightly less "chibi" than 1/2 Genie-Hero.

Can't wait!!

The game's coming to most systems INCLUDING Apple's new weird streaming gaming service...

#GamingNEWS Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the Necrodancer ft. The Legend of Zelda - Nintendo Switch

So Nintendo is officially greenlighting an indie game crossover with the Zelda series! How... great?  How very non-Nintendo of them!

I already adore the music!

#NintendoDirect News An unexpected Zelda remake and a Mario spinoff sequel

I'm sure some people were expecting more news from Metroid. Or even a surprise Zelda semi-sequel using the Breath of the Wild engine... but not... this? And this is still good, mind you. Only... what? I didn't expect that for sure!

First up a surprise brand new remake of one of my all-time favorite obscure Zelda games, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening!

Here is the Announcement Trailer, which is an anime-revamp of the original GB game's cutscene:

Wow! The intro looked really, really good. The visuals are... a bit weird to put it simply. But after rewatching it I'm kinda digging the style finally. The overworld seems nice, but Link will take some used to. The music is already PHENOMENAL though! Bring it! After a huge sandbox modern Zelda, a retro-style one is exactly what the Switch needed!

The second surprise was the randomly-announced as well Super Mario Maker 2! The first one was a great surprise, I guess this is part for the course:

Like before, people will mess around the engine to have fun. And some talented folks will actually end up making fantastic stuff with it.

#FinalFantasy PlayStation Experience 2015: Final Fantasy VII Remake - PSX 2015 Trailer | PS4

First up lemme say:
No.
There hasn't been any news update regarding the long awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake. Hey, it's coming from the FFXV team! You might as well expect it for 2025!

Speaking of...

I was looking back again at the ol' PlayStation Experience 2015's preview of Final Fantasy VII Remake ... and noticing it's basically going to be a Final Fantasy XV's take on FF7.. which actually I'm all for! (plus I'll simply keep on replaying the original if I wanna enjoy the original controls+graphics+music)

Damn.. alright, this is making me hurt a bit, just thinking I will have my first grey hairs when they finally release it..

#TGS2018 Project JUDGE | Trailers

Here's a brand new title from the creators of the Yakuza game series, just announced at this year's Tokyo Game Show!

The game will apparently still be set in the same Yakuza universe, even featuring some crossover characters, but instead of playing as a criminal organization you will get to play the lawful good heroes. A lawyer turned detective to save people from organized crime.

It will feature a similar action-RPG gameplay and exploration. Titled Project Judge for now.

Our main character is played by and modeled after an actual Japanese actor, Takuya Kimura.

Sounds good to me!

#E3News Fallout 76 – Official Teaser Trailer

E3 2018 is fast approaching, and we're starting to get a lot of info regarding upcoming titles.

It seems like Bethesda has finally resurrected the old Fallout Online project under a new title, Fallout 76, a multiplayer Fallout spinoff project co-developed between their main studios and another side team. Check out the announcement teaser:

More news, and more games, coming up with E3 right around the corner...

#GamingNEWS Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion

I'm kinda hyped for a new Adventure Time game again!

Adventure Time have a pretty odd reputation with gamers. They've been hit or miss, sure. But they also managed to stay close to the cartoon's tone and riff off classic adventure-style video games.

My personal opinion, as both a fan of classic adventure games and Adventure Time?

Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!! was a really funny and enjoyable Zelda 2/Tombi!/Tomba! sidescroller platformer/action RPG. Explore the Dungeon Because I Don't Know! was a really, really, really bad repetitive dungeon crawler. The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom was a great throwback to the original Zelda 1, a bit on the easy side, though. And Finn & Jake Investigations is a really good classic adventure game in the style of classic PC graphic adventure games.

Anyways!

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is the new installment coming to Xbox 1, PS4, Switch and PC. And it aims to be no different. It's developed by the crew at Climax (good track record). This time is a 3D action-RPG, kinda reminiscent of Zelda: Wind Waker! Nice.

No trailer yet, but check out these lovely screenshots of the game:

#E3News Anthem Official Gameplay Reveal

Bioware showed some more footage of their new ip Anthem, which is starting to look more and more like a faux-Mass Effect.

They're now calling it a "shared-world action-RPG". Confirming the RPG elements. And with the footage below we can see the shooting will be quite reminiscent of the ME series. Also some quick interactive "cinematic" dialogues:

Looks gorgeous, if a bit boring and generic. Anthem will release in fall 2018.

#Design - CustomCoverArt MS&MD Wonder Boy/Monster World series

Please! Do not ask for these! This was a personal job, not outsourcing the work to other people. If you want me to work out something for you, I will do so for money only.

Recently I decided to revamp my entire Wonder Boy/Monster World game collection - the classic series that inspired Wayforward's Shantae series! - to sport the proper original titles (and get rid of the two different Wonder Boy 3 that way) as well as finally give boxes for a couple of my naked cartridges. I love the original artworks over the ugly stuff we got in the west, I even made a few alts for some.

I'm not allowing the comments below to avoid the spam I usually get on these.
