#NINTENDOnews some games from this last Nintendo Direct

A ton of stuff was showed during the last Nintendo Direct! Well, some stuff caught my eyes, including...

Another recent DK game, Donkey Kong Country Returns, is being ported to the Switch. Kinda weird to have this one released after the sequel, but there it is.

Metroid fans have been eating good lately. Re-releases. A new 2D title. And it's time for the new 3D title, it's about darn' time! Prime 4 is here!

While I'm more hyped to see Luigi Mansion 2 re-released outside a handheld system, Mario & Luigi fans rejoiced, the series is back as well! After Mario RPG and Mario vs. Donkey Kong, it's time for Mario & Luigi: Brothership to make a comeback! I admit, I never tried this series...

And finally, my favorite surprise in the bunch... a brand new Zelda game!

Not only that, a "brand new" game, not another port or remake.

Not only that, but using the same artstyle as Link's Awakening! Which is a great idea, it would be dump to not use that style direction for one more game!

And not only that but a game where you play as Zelda! It's truly a Legend of Link instead this time around! She got her own smart gameplay, since Link uses the triforce or courage with his weapons, she uses the triforce of wisedom..and therefore powers based on magic!

AND the gameplay seems to be a mix of the openworld sandbox of the last couple of main Zelda games mixed with the upgrade-gating progression of the classic games. It all sounds pretty interesting.

AND AND AND.. it's already coming this september!!

I'm all in! Can't wait!!

#E32021news End of the show, Nintendo saves E3 again

Allow me this little exageration on the title, but that's what it feels like reading off other people's comments or news articles.

Anyways, Covid or not, this has been another slightly lackluster E3 show. I get how the current situation probablyl slowed down most game devs...

But here we are! The last presentations have been streamed! Most publishers announced stuff! Nintendo actually showed games coming this year 2021 instead of 2022 (aside from a Breath of the Wild 2 teaser).

Let's check this out in no particular order:

First up, bye bye the only exclusive game on Xbox SX (is that how you spell it?) I kinda wanted. The Medium will come to PS5 now, as I guessed. I really enjoyed Bloober Team's Layers of Fear or the recent Blair Witch game. I didn't want to miss this horror title featuring the return of Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka on the music.

We will apparently get a brand new Super Monkey Ball! I mean, not a new game. Like the last one which was a remaster, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is a remix of the original "trilogy", meaning SMB1, 2 and Deluxe (which was actually a remaster of 1 and 2 on the Xbox..?). A neat little package of over 300 of levels with a ton of bonus and modes right on time for the 20th anniversary of the Super Monkey Ball series!

On the Nintendo side, plenty of stuff. Starting with a brand new WarioWare, WarioWare: Get It Together! I like this news, but part of me wishes we could get a new Wario platformer instead...

After teasing a new Metroid Prime, Nintendo instead went back to the original sidescroller series and announced the long rumored and canceled Metroid 5 (which started on GBA before moving to the DS and then.. nothing),Metroid Dread. This looks great. I know lots of people will enjoy this one, including my bro who is a big fan of the series.

And finally while everyone wanted old games (people kept making up rumors and leaks about a Zelda Anniversary collection with the Wii U/3DS versions of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess), Nintendo instead decided to show us some more of Breath of the Wild 2. Which seems to take a lot after Skyward Sword - which kinda explains the re-release actually. Exploring floating island over the world map, freejumping and more of the good stuff from the original BotW, which easily remains one of my fav entries with Zelda 1.

So a bit more good stuff over here.

I wanted new actual games from this whole E3 show. Not just remakes and re-releases. I'm sick and tired of the gritty action photorealistic-stuff. Give me more imaginative and colorful stuff. No wonder I spend more time replaying 8/16-bit stuff lately over current games. And even more homebrew and indie stuff. (Did you know the Sega Megadrive/Genesis has, like, 50 upcoming new titles this year alone??)

All in all.. I'm only here for Zelda and the Guardians of the Galaxy game, I guess.

See you next year!

#E3 Day 3 - Nintendo swoops in

This E3's been pretty boring if you ask around. But aside from a few titles nothing really caught my attention.

Then Nintendo came in with the return of several of their classic franchises, and everyone's losing their pants! Even though I'm not a huge fan of their newly announced games, it's nice to see them bring a strong game to help keep the Switch "relevant" (for the lack of a better word).

#E3 NEWS! Day 3 - Eidos, Nintendo, PC and stuff

And here is our last E3-related posted, probably. I don't expect to see any more surprises since now the conferences are all over and it's mostly gameplay from the showfloor coming up.

Nintendo conference was quite crazy, but the rest of the reveals was kinda lackluster if you ask me. There's also some stuff coming from a PC conference, which was really bad. But, hey, new Deus Ex footage!

Outcast Studios - LIVE DRAW NIGHT May 2011

So, last night at the Outcast forums, we had another one of our "Live Draw Nights", where a dozen or so comic fans spend hours drawing characters after characters.

http://outcaststudios.com/forums/
It's a very fun challenge, it provides such an interesting and challenging practice session.
It's divided into 4 hours, were we:
- Draw 5-10 minutes characters on the first hour
- We draw half hour sketches the second hour
- Had an interesting rule in the 3rd one, do a "costume swap"
- Finish the last 4th hour with a much more challenging and complete drawing, based on someone's cosplay (this time, it was a pretty professional Iron Man cosplay)

There were some very interesting choices amongst the subject, they weren't even all comic book-related!

Let's check out some of the pics I've drawn last night, if you please!

Gamin' NEWS! Metroid LIVE!

Well, not really live.
More like actors on CGi backdrop :P

Anyway, Nintendo revealed a cool "live" trailer for Metroid: Other M.
I've never really been into Metroid, my bro's more a fan of the series than me.
Though I do admire the concept and level design of the real past Metroid games. The sidescroller ones.
This new game from Team Ninja will be a big mix of 3D sidescrollin' action, FPS sequences and Ninja Gaiden-esque gameplay.
Good stuff!

Here's the live trailer:

A bit unusual for the big N.
Modern, gritty and Halo-ysh!
