#Ad DirectLineTV making some random epic pop culture ads for their services...!?

So there's this UK-based direct line TV company called, well DirectLineTV.

And they've been making some pretty interesting commercials lately. Using classic pop culture icons.

The latest of those which has been going all over social media. It features a CGi animated Ninja Turtle, Donnie to be precise. And he looks like a nice balance of modern CGi and his vintage comic/cartoon self. I feel like with some tuning this could be the perfect way to recreate the TMNT in a modern blokbuster, far from Anchor Bay/Michael Bay's reboot. Just some fine-tuning the nose and eyes to make him less cartoony.

Okay, I admit, there are some bits I liked at the beginning and Sam L Jackson.

Huh.. not sure how I feel about this one so far.

Lemme point you what I don't like instead: Too much CGi, CGi looks pretty bad/bland/generic, don't like the art direction (RoboCop, those robots, the new ED-209..)

Pros: Sam Jackson cameo? Awesome! His RoboCop voice is pretty decent too.

Hollywood, please stop p*ssing on Paul Verhoeven work!!

Why, d'you ask?

Well, they used the title theme song from the Data East RoboCop game in it! Really!

It's actually the Game Boy rendition of the music to be precise.

How random.

If this was nowadays, I can imagine a law suit following, etc.

But back then video games were much more of a smaller industry/independent-scale affair.
