My favorite scenes from Disney Movies: Digga Tunnah

I love animation.
Classic "2D" "hand drawn" animation that is.
I think that as a cartoonist/illustrator, it should always by what we strive for, what we should try to reach even if paper drawings won't be animated. Giving a sense of movement and all that.

Anyway, I love Disney movies. I usually dislike the idea of making sequels to these timeless classics. And most of the times those direct-to-DVD sequels come pretty short on what was made before. But the Lion King 1/2 (or Lion King 3) is easily the best attempt they've ever done.

Here's the awesome song that opens and closes this prequel/sequel/interquel/parody:

  1. I usually dislike all the Disney sequels as well, but the Lion King stuff was good. I'd have to say though, my favorite would be Aladdin 3 "King of Thieves". The "Return of Jafar" was alright, and the tv series was good. But I think 3 had a better animation team, plus they got Robin Williams back. The Little Mermaid tv series was decent as well, though I never saw any of the sequels.

  2. I also love classic "2D" "hand drawn" animation as well. I think it's the way cartoons should be made. While Pixar and Dreamworks have done some great stuff, there's nothing like the classics. Speaking of the classics... what is your favorite Disney movie of all time?

Mine would probably be Robin Hood.
Though Sword in the Stone and Aladdin are right up there.

  3. I'm with you on that :/
Maybe I played way too much videogames, but everytime I see a CGi 3D flick, it's always sort of like watching a game cutscene instead of actual animation, as good as it looks, be it "Shrek" or any Pixar movie...

And with my artsy background, I guess I relate and will always prefer 2D hand drawn work over computer models..

The 3rd Aladdin is easily my 2nd favorite Disney sequel. Return of Jafar, as fun as it was, seemed more like (and actually is) a pilot for the TV series.

It's a really hard decision to pick my favs..I guess I'll do a proper list like I did with my favorite movies (under the TLC button on the menu above)
But picking from Disney alone, I'd have to have the Lion King, Aladdin and Hercules in there... but a real list would have also non-Disney movies :P
