I can believe there's already been 3 books of KaBOOM! Studios' Adventure Time comic book series! And it looks like it's not losing steam anytime soon.

Like its parent cartoon series it's based on, this successful book has been nominated for several awards from best new series to best all-ages comic.

Webcomic writer/programmer Ryan North is still having a lot of fun with the original material, making it his own yet still keeping it faithful to the animated series.

With this book, Volume 3, collecting issues #10-14 of the main Adventure Time series, the overall mythology is starting to be explored and played with a bit more. The earlier issues had been closer to the simpler times of the first seasons of the show.

The tone is still pretty much the same though.

This new book opens with the critically acclaimed "Choose your own Adventure Time" story. It was originally a mere filler story in-between two bigger storylines.

Finn and Jake are the bestest of pals.

Together they go on all sorts of adventures. But this time the adventure came to them. And it's not eve their choice. Literally!

It all started when the Ice King came by their Tree Fort and used some mad magic trick.

And now Finn and Jake can't control their own actions. YOU are! You, the reader!

Following some dialogues you will chose the path that will take Finn and Jake through the Land of Ooo and back, to ask for Princess Bubblegum's help or even check on Adventure Tim (an original character from the comic!).

It's a fairly fun issue, and a great way to start this read with a smile!

After that, it's another Adventure Time epic that will take our heroes on a much more dangerous quest...

It started as any usual videogame evening at the Fort.

Marceline the Vampire Queen came by the house to play some videogames with Finn and Jake.

BMO proposed the super-duper-awesome Super Guts Punch 3.

But after a quick play through - that game was too easy for its awesome title - it appears BMO caught a virus.

So our friends went on a search for some answers. They first thought this "Ewlbo" guy was just a sorcerer, but it appears it is a lot more than that..

This epic tale will take our heroes all around Ooo on a search for Ewlbo, organizing a wizard battle, going through glorious 8-bit worlds and facing hordes of dangerous MOs robots... and then, the final boss...

Turns out it was all thanks to the last scientist on Ooo.

It was a particularly fun story revolving around the infamous "Phil's Face" that usually appear on the show (and based on one of its character designers, Phil Rynda).

The volume didn't collect the back-up stories neither, but at least the art gallery is always present at the end. Featuring great artists such as JJ Harrison, Craig Rousseau and also Paul Pope. Tyson Hesse's work even made it on this volume's cover!

Overall, it's a very engaging, fun, entertaining all-ages title!

A must read for any fan of the show!

This new volume appears to revolve around the theme of "games". The first tale offering a more traditional "choose your own adventure" type of interactive story. While the second tale was about retro videogames and is way more straightforward.

Recommended!

I give it:
2 / 3 Snoopies!
