CBR:Quickies Jerry Prosser's Animal Man

This is it! Here's the end of the original Animal Man series!

For the end of the series, a new writer came on board, Jerry Prosser.
Mostly known for his work at Dark Horse Comics. He worked on a lot of horror and mature titles, from Aliens to Predator, Crow, Bram Stoker's Burial of the Rats, etc.
So you'd expect he would be a good fit to follow-up on Delano, right?

But instead of on following on those thematics he went back to more surreal plots like in Vol. 3 of Grant Morrison's and back to the whole Shamanic aspect of Animal Man from Tom Veitch.

The story went up on a bizarre note..
But let's pick this up from the start.

What I like to dub: "Animal Man: Dreams of a Shaman"!

Don't miss out my previous Animal Man-related reviews!

#Ad - Dancing with Baywatch girls!

Here's a pretty random "vintage" ad.

It's a... how to put it simply.. A 1999 sexist Norwegian ad :/

Thanks to the french youtube channel who preserves all these different ads and upload them regularly!

#Music BOX - Cake - Short Skirt/Long Jacket (Live)

Here's a kickass interpretation of Cake's "Short Skirt/Long Jacket", live on Letterman!
Most know it from the TV Series' Chuck opening credits.
Myself? I just love Cake, they kick ass!

Enjoy:

Was it me...or was there some douchebag texting while Cake was playing?! How rude of that *******
No respect, these guys... mpphf...

#MAD - Everybody Loves Rayman

Here's a Rayman (Origins!) parody from Mad!
It's, well, it's Mad. So don't expect much. But the artstyle they used here did get a smile outta me :P

Poor Ray!
(ugh...his voice though...)

VGR Wild Woody

Here's another failed mascot for today!

It's the awkwardly named WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILD WOOOOOOOOOOOOOODY!!!~

#OpeningTheme - Futurama: Live Action Opening Sequence

Woah!
Futurama's latest opening credits were awesome!
(that's from this week's 11th episode of this 7th Season)

Did you see it? In any case, here goes:

Woah! Paperpuppets 'n' all! How very retro!

Total Ripoff (Total Recall Comparison - 1990 vs 2012)

My exact thoughts on all this Total Recall-stuff put on this shiny video by Cinestir on youtube.

Also, damn! I remember the producers/director talking about why this wasn't on Mars. ("oh, it's a brand new take on Philip K Dick's novel" "we wanted to make something new and different" etc.) But in the end they just remade the same exact movie, to the spot-on details. Only not on Mars.
Also I find this "remake" to follow way too closely Scharzy & Verhoeven's movie than the original "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" novel...

Anyway, check this out:

#AwesomeCosplay Pics of the day: The Bat-Woman

Here's a totally amazing cosplay of the Batwoman by the lovely Alouette:

Woah!!
Simply gorgeous!!

#Gaming NEWS! BROKEN SWORD 5 - wooh-hooooo!

The guys at Revolution Software have finally announced a new Broken Sword game! Finally! Yay!

Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse for PC, Apple and Linux only!
Look at this pic! It looks gorgeous!
It will be a return to 2D like the first two episodes. (I guessed they scrapped the 2D remakes of the later games then...?)
With all the old crew back behind the production and all.

But they need your help...

#FanFilm Friday - Army of Two in "Cartel Takedown"

Here's a "live" take on Army of Two, from the guys at - who love to act all violent/live video games/military stuff.

Okay, so it's more inspired by the upcoming new Army of Two reboot than the original previous ones.

Which reminds me, sorry but I have to rant a little here.
Why is EA taking out the humor from AoT?
It was the fun part about it, the reason why I preferred those games of the bazillion other 3rd person shooters out there these days.
And taking the game in a new and serious direction? Really?
Replacing the fun light-hearted buddy movie-duo for two generic special agents named "Alpha" and "Bravo"!?
So we'll end up with yet another gritty realistic shooter - minus the comedy from the originals...
That's just making more bland this fun little IP...

Ow well..

I'll miss Rios and Salem...

#EpicPic of the day - I would have gotten that parking spot, too, if it hadn’t been for those meddling kids!

#Sketch - “Prometheus” Science Training School

Sure, the scientists were kinda dumb in this prequel to Alien, Prometheus.
Though I liked it enough.

Here's a sketch prequel to Prometheus(!!) which explains why, oh, why were these scientists so dumb.
Sure they behaved like idiots, unlike the selected geniuses for a billions miles away-space travel they were supposed to be.
You'll finally know how they were instructed on the things to do in these hypothetical situations, why and how!

This “prequel” was written by Todd Womack with Mark Douglas and Bryan Olsen, and directed by Tom Small
Enjoy!

There's a reason why the crew onboard the Prometheus was so effective at dealing with aliens: good training!

#FanFilm Friday - 'Batman: Dark Knightfall' Stop-Motion Movie

Time for a (kinda random, when you get down to it) fanfilm!

It's pretty rare to come across Stop-Motion videos these days, even more so good ones.
Anyway here's a Batman fanfilm titled Batman: Dark Knightfall, using Christopher Nolan-inspired figurines.
Check this out!

Neat!
Did ya see that ending coming?!?

#Music BOX - Ghibli: acoustic guitar solo

Here's a fanmade cover of various Studio Ghibli musics on the acoustic guitar.
Listen to this, it's fantastic!

MR Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith

And finally, one of the most expected sequels and episodes in a franchise!

EPISODE 3!

I sure took my time to finally decide myself I should review this one at some point.
Like the previous ones, let's give it a fare chance.
After all the real question is.. is it an enjoyable experience?

Don't miss out my previous Star Wars-related reviews!

#OpeningTheme - Weird Science

Speaking of Weird Science last time, here's the opening of the 90s TV series they made based on the eponymous movie:

Weird science Theme Tune par jonboy1234

She made a lovely Lisa :P

It was a fun show, with lots of crazy scifi plots quite heavily inspired on the old EC comics which the movie as well was based on.

And here's something awesome.
A fan made the following Opening video for the movie, based on the series one. Check it out, for those who prefer that original version of Weird Science:

Btw, I just love Danny Elfman's music, such a catchy theme song~

Learn English with Ricky Gervais (with French Subtitles)

This is simply brilliant!
Here's a super random video from Ricky Gervais (and Karl Pilkington!).
It's also available with other languages.

Check this out:

"The french subtitles might not all be right but hey, in the words of Karl Pilkington, 'you'll all know how to speak English anyway'"

#Gaming NEWS! PSYGNOSIS IS DEAD! LONG LIVE PSYGNOSIS !

First Hudson, now Psygnosis too?
All the great iconic companies from the 90s are closing shop.
That's how sad and dark current gaming is...

Then-Psygnosis aka SCE Studio Liverpool these days just declared bankruptcy.
They were the ones responsible for the Lemmings games, the Wipeout series, Destruction Derby, Alundra, Rascal, Puggsy and many more - too many to count!

Goodbye Psygnosis!

Hey Eyz! Whatcha gonna watch this season? [2012-13 Edition!]

I've been watching more and more TV shows these past couple of years.
And simultaneously less and less movies (at least on theater, I'm still watching lots of oldie~)
Did all the creative talent run to the small screen, with producers meddling more and more with big budget productions on the big one?

Anyway, it's that time of the year again!
Time to once more check on what's new and coming up to TV this new 2012-13 Season!
Like I tend to do every year (third time on this blog already!)

#EpicPic of the day - Geoff Johns

Call him, "Mr. Green Lantern!"

Old, but fun photo of Geoff Johns, better known as the guy who likes to reinvent and/or reinterpret old Silver Age comic book characters!
Oh, and specifically Green Lantern-related stuff.

VGR B.O.B.

Today's subject isn't the kinda game that gets mentioned around.
I mean, even on "Top List of 16-bit games" or obscure 90s action/shooter games, not even on "Worst" or Bad lists.
It just isn't remember in any sort of way.

Which is sad, because this budget Megaman clone from EA is actually quite fun.

#OpeningTheme - Galaxy High School

Wow! I just found out about this old show (thanks S-L-B!) and while the concept is a bit silly... it's also pretty awesome at the same time!

Also, dayum! That's what I call some awesome 80s-style music!

#OpeningTheme - The Tick

I already posted the opening of the cartoon The Tick series, here's the equally awesome live series based on Ben Edlund's famous cult character:

#OpeningTheme - Kyattou Ninden Teyandee

Speaking of Samurai Pizza Cats last week, I shoulda also post the original Japanese opening theme as well...

Here's Kyattou Ninden Teyandee!!

I love this theme song as well~

#Comics NEWS! about that marriage

Before THE NEW 52:

Lois & Clark

After THE NEW 52:

Really?...
I'll leave it to you to ponder...

(also isn't it lazy that we're at a point where Jim Lee is now ripping off his own artwork?!)

Inside Adam Savage's Man Cave: Indiana Jones Bullwhip

This is just awesome!
Here's Mythbusters' Adam Savage playing around with his wonderful toys:

Enjoy the video, while I go looking up hat prices online~

#Music BOX - Que Sera Sera

Here's a lovely adaptation from the song "Que Sera Sera" some might remember from the soundtrack of Studio Ghibli's My Neighbors the Yamadas!
Enjoy~

#StandUp - Pardis Parker vs. John Mulaney

Is it only me, or is this Pardis Parker on Laugh Factory ripping of John Mulaney's act?

Let's take a look.
Here's John Mulaney telling his "Subway Station Chase" story from his tour/album from MArch 2009:

And here's Parker with his bit "Rape?!" at the Laugh Factor this past May:

Mmh.. where did I hear that before?!
It's way to similar to be a coincidence..

Shame on you Pardis Parker!
That's low, stealing another comedian's act.

CBR The Spirit

Time to go back to a genre of fiction I love, pulp!

Back in the late 2000s, DC let Darwyn Cooke attempt a revival of Will Eisner's classic hero The Spirit.
The whole project sounded to good to go through, and even though Cooke left the book early on, the series manage to go through over 30 issues, a little mini-series crossover event and about 20 more issues of a second series.
(until it got canceled, thanks one again to DC's New 52... -sigh-)

Anyway, let's go back to the beginning and have a look how it all started!
This book has it all, Action, Mystery, Adventure! And as such sports this awesome little stamp on the cover (presented on the right here) .

#OpeningTheme - Godzilla: The Series

The American Godzilla might be...special.
(who am I kidding?! I love Godzilla as much as I equally despise it... let's call it just Zilla - a good monster movie, but an awful Godzilla)

But one of the best things it brought up was with no doubt its animated series!
Much more inspired by Japanese kaiju films, featuring tones of creatures for Zilla to face (unlike the movie!) and a Zilla actually firing his laser!

And, hey! It was done by the same guys from the Men In Black cartoon series.
Check out the awesome opening:

I just love this intro! Very powerful. Epic.

Looking back at it... is it only me or does the hero/Matthew Broderick guy look a lot like Yorick from Y: The Last Man!?!

#Music NEWS! new Green Day CDs!

'Can't wait for Green Day's upcoming new albums!

They announced not only one but 3 new CDs, each will be released from September 2012 to January 2013.

#AwesomeCosplay Pics of the day: Black Bat & The Spoiler

Here's gorgeous cosplays of Black Bat & The Spoiler, cosplayed by Betty Felon & Ali Kay
at this year's Boston Comic Con.

They both look amazing!

Here's some more pics of both costumes.

#MakingOf The Avengers gag reel

With the DVD/Bluray coming up soon, here's some bloopers from Joss Whedon's The Avengers that have just recently surfaced.

I'll leave you with that.
I'll just say: COUUUUULSOOOON!!!! NAOOOOOOOOH!!!! I'LL AAAAAAAVEEEENGE YOOOOU!!!!

Epic :D
Looks like it was a fun set!

By the way, here's fun bits from Whedon about the making of the film and how Marvel kept annoying him/forcing him to follow their stuff.

#MAD - Wooden Star Wars

Here's MAD having some fun off Clones Wars.
Probably not their best, but it might give you a smile or two.

So random.

VGR The Curse of Monkey Island

And finally after all this time, I decided to go back to some of my older interrupted review series!

Time for some adventure, bucaneers!
Time to spill some blood and drink some grog!
Time for swashbuckling action!
Time to explore MONKEY ISLAND 3!

Don't miss out my previous Monkey Island-related reviews!

#Interview - @Google in Conversation with Stephen Merchant

Oh, I didn't knew Stephen Merchant did his tour Hello Ladies in the US too!
Here's a little interview with Google:

John Mulaney's #StandUp - Why I don't drink anymore

I haven't posted any John Mulaney standup bits anymore...
I wonder why? He's my favorite comedian, hands down!

Here's a bit from his more recent second album/tour "New in Town":

Alan Wake opening - Twin Peaks style

Haha :P
This is pretty fun!

Someone made a Twin Peaks-styled opening credits for Remedy's videogame Alan Wake!
Itself a pretty good Stephen King/Twin Peaks tribute. (well, more King than Twin Peaks, it's not Deadly Premonitions!)
It's pretty good!
Check it out.

(the music is, of course, Angelo Badalamenti's original "Twin Peaks Theme")

#AwesomeCosplay Pics of the day: She's a Wonder!

Here's an Alex Ross-style Wonder Woman cosplayed by Margie Cox.

Simply perfect!

VGR Aero the Acro-Bat

Time for another mascot-related review!
This time around it's a more obvious Sonic 1 inspired platformed, fresh off from the success of Sega's own hedgehog.

Ready or not, be prepared for the one and only...

#OpeningTheme - The Tick

I just noticed I never posted the opening theme of The Tick!!
So, here goes!

Now, that's some lyrics that rock!~
