Here's Adventure Time Vol. 2 from KaBOOM!

The comic book adaptation of the fan-favorite hit TV series!

The comic is still very much random, closer to the earlier tone of the show.

Webcomic writer/programmer Ryan North is still very much having fun with the title, expanding Pen Ward's cult cartoon series and having fun playing with it in the comic book medium.

This volume 2 collects the following issues #5-9 of the main series from KaBOOM/Boom Studios. The one shot story "Adventure Tim" from Mike Holmes was inserted in the beginning of the big new storyarc like they did previously in Volume 1 with another one shot as well.

We're back with our heroes Finn & Jake, once more having righteous adventures and bro-ing it up.

The book opens with a very random story. Our best pals decide to test their might on a totally awesome ultimate challenge. Who will go furthest on a straight line!?! The winner will get to eat BMO's cup cake all by himself!

After a few steps it gets a bit difficult so they start walking together.

Then it gets a bit boring. But at least some challenges keep popping up on their path.

Like the totally random new face they meet on their way...

...Adventure Tim!

Who or what is that totally bogus dude? 'Sides, he gives me the creeps...

(Wait until you meet the Mice King...)

If you thought that was all that was going to happen in these pages, you're dead wrong!

Things get interesting when Princess Bubblegum finally finishes her biggest most important invention ever... a REAL TIME MACHINE!!

Finn and Jake start messing up with it... Jake can't stop putting it down, having fun messing stuff around and then going back in time to clean it up, like nothing happened.

But if it doesn't stop... they might just risk unraveling the history of Ooo's timeline itself! Permanently!

'You ask me, this is another solid hit from Boom Studios!

Another really fun epic story. Like the first one, very engaging, a real page turner.

This time the story is a bit more on the scifi-side. I hope Ryan North explores a different subject every arc!

The art by the dynamic duo Shelli Paroline & Braden Lamb is once again breath taking! On par with the show, it really recaptures an animated series on the paper.

Adventure Tim's self-titled "Adventure Tim" feature by indie artist Mike Holmes is also excellent. A bit sillier than the main tale, but just as fun as any episode of the show!

Overall, it's a great all-ages book for everyone!

Very enjoyable, the art looks great and the characters are really fun.

Once again, the issues had literally a ton of alternate covers, collected here in a bonus art gallery. It's a great occasion to see the Land of Ooo through the artist representation of different artists. Lots of great names can be found there such as Franco, Graham Annable, etc

I'm just sad they didn't include the backup stories this time either (in the European translations of the first two trades by Urban Comics, they already did so!).

I give it:
2.5 / 3 Snoopies!
