And of the three legendary "development hell" turned "vaporware", two had actually been released over this past decade:
And Half-Life 3.
2 down. 1 to go.
Well, like right on the clock, Valve randomly announced a new Half-Life title. And sure it might not be no Half-Life 3 nor Half-Life 2: Episode 3. After all they don't seem to be able to count up to 3 (looking at you Portal, Team Fortress and Left 4 Dead series as well). But it is indeed a new Half-Life title.
And the whole internet went through all phases of acceptance, laugh, denial, anger... for you see, it was announced as a VR-exclusive title!
I know, it sucks. I personally don't have VR as well. But I've been through the entire generations of consoles. I'm familiar with exclusives, I'm used to them. That's how I missed the entire PS2 library originally and only finally got myself familiar with some later ports and a Japanese PS2 I finally got. And I also skipped the entire PS3 library, but there were less exclusives there, and some like the Uncharted titles ended up re-released on PS4 later..
ANYWAYS, getting sidetracked here..
A new Half-Life game! An Half-Life spinoff, sure! But modern Half-Life with modern visuals! That's pretty neat!
I'll check this whenever they release a non-VR suported version... or in a decade or so. I'm patient, I'm used to play older games a gen later.
