Comic NEWS! Live Action Blue Beetle!

Comics!
My favorite writer, Geoff Johns, is now at the helm of DC Entertainment supervising the transition of the DC characters from comics to movies, games and tv.

He is actually trying to greenlight a TV show around the character Blue Beetle, the Jaime Reyes version of the blue beetle.

In fact, he has already been over seeing the making of a little short video, to have his series greenlighted.
This means the show is actually not confirmed.
From what he said on his twitter, he'll have the full motion little video available at the San Diego ComiCon.

Here's some screens that appeard yesterday on the official DC blog, The Source:

Understand that is just some test footage!
Sure it looks pretty cheap, but this show isn't actually confirmed, there isn't a director, writers, a special effect company, actors nor a production company attached to this "project".
It's just something to motivate possible investors.

I'm really liking this so far!
It has that The Flash Tv series vibe alongside a bit of a little of the movies Spider-Man/Ironman.
Jaime could be a pretty cool character to follow on a live action show!

Plus I always thought Superheroes/comic books in general could be better translated into tv shows than movies.
Like, Tobey Maguire Spider-man only met a new supervillain every 2-3 years? Nothing happaned to him during that time, no new challenges, his life didn't evolve or change at all... You get the flaw yearly comic movies have?

Oh, and yes, a Ted Kord's Blue Beetle movie/show could be better and awesome on so many levels.. but only if it involved the Super Buddies/JLI/Booster Gold.
I could easily imagine BB and BG in a buddy movie.
Check this awesome "fanfilm" from the crew at Blinky Production:

  1. I would have said,
BB was pretty underrated while his comic were being released!

Since then, be it in Teen Titans (the comics), The brave and the Bold and now this!... People do like him a lot NOW and are finally interested in him!

Why couldn't it happen while the comics was running TT__TT

  2. I hope this will get Blue Beetle a new comic series! (he's only been in Teen Titans lately and some small second features at the end of Booster Gold comics)
