Here's some new promo material of "Hal Reynolds" from the upcoming Green Lantern movie.
I guess those are supposed to be printed over popcorn bags, t-shirts and other marketing tools Warner Bros is gonna flood the market with.
So.
His Green Lantern costume...what d'you think of it?
Hmmm... I'm not sure it's possible to make that outfit look good in real life. But it might be like Spiderman; looks great while flying around and doing flips, but incredibly lame when he's running on his feet. I like the outfit though, I just feel that a skin tight outfit will likely end up putting him in the "Superman" genre. This would mean "Never should have left the comic strip/cartoons."
ReplyDeleteMy main problem is the whole organic/muscles-thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's so....disturbing visually. Kinda odd design choice for a "space cop".
I can't STAND the new costume. UGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!
ReplyDeleteThey ruined a classic Silver Age costume. Now it's all...ugly and full of lines. I agree with you, Eyz, about the "peeled-back skin" look to it. I was trying to describe that to one of my friends but she didn't understand what I meant by it. I'm glad you do! It's not attractive by any means!
Oh, and while I'm in a complaining mood, the mask doesn't look right either.
ReplyDeleteAnd his hair. It's too short. And dark.
I dunno why, but from these shots it even looks like Ryan Reynolds would have been better suited for Kyle (an older Kyle Rayner).
ReplyDeleteIt's not just Green Lanterns, but current movie designers have quite awful tastes... why do they feel the need to complicated everything with lines, details and textures? It doesn't make things more realistic but on the contrary less real.
