Title: Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening
Comedian Aziz Ansari
Release date 2010
Genre Stand-up Comedy album
Want to have a good time with some good fun Stand-up Comedy?
How about Aziz Ansari?
Aziz Ansari for those who don't know him is a very fun actor who has been on NBC's hilarious Parks and Recreation. This hilarious actor has appeared in a lot of fan-favorite shows and films such as Flight of the Conchords and as the memorable Randy in Judd Apatow's film "Funny People".
In addition to his acting career, Aziz has also been working as a stand-up comedian on the side, still going on tours since his beginning to this day in-between seasons of P&R.
"Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening" was his debut stand-up comedy album, a Comedy Central Special released in January 2010 and originally recorded the previous year in 2009. It was made available as both a CD/DVD and as a digital release.
Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening covers as random and diverse subjects as gay rights, sheets, going in a flight with "the sniffles", how crazy and dangerous looking for stuff on craigslist sounds like, his old roomate, messing up with his young chubby cousin Harris, MTV's next, a night with Kanye West, R. Kelly and finally including the closer on a "Raaaaandy" segment since this special was coming right off the movie Funny People.
It's more or less the same kind of topics Aziz would always cover up in his later following shows from then on.
Aziz Ansari is really hilarious and all-out funny. His style revolves around short auto-biographical tales. And it's always something unique putting us through his always fun point of view on things.
He has a pretty great delivery, going on these very fun stories.
Some standouts include his little cousin he loves to annoy on Facebook.
Aziz is a fairly funny young new comedian, like most of his generation he seems really interested and loves technology. But it's the way he goes over it that makes his act really unique. He's fascinated by "social media" aspects. He tends to put a lot of emphasis and repeats his punchlines for today's short attention span-audience.
He has some great smart bits about Kanye West, Facebook or MTV.
Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening is about 50+ minutes and the DVD is not nearly as complete as the audio release. And it was made available as a digital download as well.
Overall, it's an hilarious album from a very funny new comedian.
Aziz puts great emphasis on jokes, has a perfect flawless timing and is alway funny all the way through his special!
Despite its pretty silly title, it's a great comedy album with lots of great moments!
It's not nearly perfect, granted this is a comic who was still shaping up his act at the time. His family friendly tone sort of clashes with some light adult content.
There's also some weaker bits in-between here and there. But he more than makes up for it with his fascination on by rappers like R. Kelly.
I give it:
