So, a new Spider-man game was announced from publisher Activision, heh?
Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
I feared another bland open-world sandbox type of game (I know, I know...lots of fanboys love Spider-man 2: the movie: the game). Seriously, once you played one of those, you've played them all.
Do you really want the same game getting released time after time after time again?
I rather have something new.
(I probably already posted my opinion on that, follow the label Spider-man or Activision)
Anyway, I was glad to discover it will be another game from the studio Beenox, responsable for Shattered Dimensions.
And it will be a sort of sequel to that previous game, we'll be able to play this time both classic Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 to correct a timestream gone awry and prevent a catastrophic future brought on by the early and untimely death of Peter Parker.
Two Spider-men they will be able to focus on? Nice!
Shattered Dimensions was my favorite Spidey game since the first 3D one (Spider-man available on Dreamcast/64/PS1 and PC). Most 3D games, as fun and nice as they were, always seemeed a bit repetitive and empty after a while. Plus helping red shirts through the city, racing across buildings and catching balloons didn't help me like the 3 Spider-man movie games. (Web of Shadows was a bit better, but soooo generic...seriously, the symbiotes craze must stop, we're not in the XTREME!! 90s anymore!)
"The first Spider-Man entry by Beenox, Spider-Man™: Shattered Dimensions was touted as one of the wall-crawler's best Spider-Man games to date from both critics and fans," said Vicharin Vadakan, Director, Global Brand Management. "Beenox is once again taking a fresh and different approach to bring a fast-paced and high-octane adventure and unexpected story to life in Spider-Man: Edge of Time."Neat! :D
"At Beenox, we are constantly listening to the fans and looking for new and creative ways to innovate the gameplay experience for them," said Dee Brown, Studio Head, Beenox. "We want to create a totally distinct experience in Spider-Man: Edge of Time by working with Peter David on the story and creating this urgent, high-stakes experience where time is working against you and the fate of Spider-Man hangs in the balance."
The game will be an action-packed adventure set in two connected and evolving timelines set against the backdrop of a tightly crafted narrative by acclaimed Marvel veteran Peter David (co-creator of Spider-Man 2099). The game also features an all-new "cause-and-effect" gameplay where players will see how immediate and sometimes unexpected effects of their actions as one Spider-Man changes the timeline of the other Spider-Man.
Let's hope this one will be good!
And Dan Gilvezan returns to voice O'Hara!
