If like me you're a big TMNT fan, then you'll be pleased to know the modern Nickelodeon Ninja Turtles will cross over with the 80s animated Turtles in a crossover episode soon!

And the crossover will even go both ways! Look at them! The 80s Turtles! In CGi!! Woah!!!

I loved the 25th Anniversary movie Turtles Forever made in 2009. It was so fun to see these different iterations of the turtles meet one another. Such a playful thing to witness, the loveable goofy goofballs from the 80s interacting with the brutal edgy 2000s Turtles (and let's not forget the gritty black & white Mirage Comics Turtles..)

After a quick cameo in Season 2:

We're finally getting the episode we all dreamed about!

The Nickelodeon current Turtles will first drop into the 2D world of the 80s Turtles...and then they will be bringing those 2D Turtles into the world of 3D CGi in the episode “Trans-Dimensional Turtles” which will air on March 27!

But more importantly, they did get the original cast back - Cam Clarke, Rob Paulsen, Barry Gordon, Townsend Coleman, and Pat Fraley as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Krang, respectively! (I miss Uncle Phil...)

Which means, yes, that we will get double Rob Paulsen! I wonder if 80s Raph will interact with 2010s Donnie... (They certainly hinted at that by putting them next to each other in the poster above!)

Here's the clip:

I can't wait!

It looks pretty cheap and poorly animated, but I love the intention! (Nickelodeon probably didn't give them a proper budget for that or allow them to outsource the animation to another studio, which explains why it looks like the Star Trek-parody segments.)

I wonder if this will top my love for Turtles Forever. The thing is the differences between the incarnations aren't that huge this time. At least they got the voice actors right this time so at least there's that!

  1. Now that you mentioned this, I would love a direct-to-video animated film based on the original Mirage Turtles!! That could be awesome (and get a lot more stuff pass the rating)
Or something around the current IDW comics! (We are getting that Platinum game, so that's a start!)
