 Dang.. Is Alien about to get its own revival like Predator with Prey?

Who thought it would be Fede Alvarez, not Ridley Scott, that would resurrect the Alien franchise? It's giving me better vibes than all past films in the series.

This Alien: Romulus better be as good as Prey... I wanna see my two favorite scifi monsters back in form....

Looks like we're finally getting that Y: The Last Man live action adaptation, in the form of a new series on FX and Hulu:

"Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth." Oh huh.. not sure I dig this tagline. Is this a prequel/sequel to Alien Resurrection with a devastated Earth? I never liked the idea of the Alien franchise heading to Earth, comics or otherwise... Wait and see..

Yesterday I went to see the new chapter in the Alien franchise, Alien: Covenant.

And to be honest, I still have no idea how I feel about it. Was it good? Was it bad? I can’t really say, I think I need to let this one aside from my mind for a little while... Let’s discuss some details[As usual, WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD!]

#RIP Bill Paxton

Oh, man.. I feel like I mostly only write these sort of blog posts lately...
I just learned it yesterday evening, and could only find the time to write this now, but...

Bill Paxton, the actor behind iconic roles in Aliens, Titanic, and Apollo 13, has passed away at 61 years old.
Bill Paxton died after complications from surgery.

He will always be remembered by me as the guy who died at the hands of an Alien, a Predator and a Terminator. He did countless great cult movies such as Twister. And more recently he had a great recurring antagonist role in Agents of SHIELD.

He still had a role in an upcoming co-starring with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks, The Circle.

Bill Paxton leaves behind a wife and two children.
“Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable,” -Paxton’s family told TMZ.

I was a big fan of him. He always managed to make any of his roles even the minor ones memorable.

RIP Bill Paxton.

#MovieNEWS Alien: Covenant Official Trailer

The first trailer for the Alien prequel/Prometheus sequel-in-disguise is here! And all I can say it's... pretty underwhelming. Like in an Alien 1-remake kind of way...

Hmmh... maybe this will be the exact opposite of Prometheus. Prometheus' first trailer gave me so much hope and promises. It looked like a brilliant Alien spiritual follow-up.. but turned out an uninspired bland generic mess (with pretty graphics). Maybe Alien: Covenant looks like a really standard copy-pasted Alien 1 but will have a lot more surprises and much more original ideas...? Maybe?...

#DeletedScenes - Operation: Aliens #CARTOON

The 1980s were a pretty strange time, when R-Rated proprieties were often turned into Saturday Morning Cartoons. Rambo received a G.I.Joe-esque cartoon surprisingly enough using the same musical score as the films. Paul Verhoeven's classic over-the-top hyper-violent gory R-Rated film RoboCop was made into kids TV. And let's not forget the various others random raunchy films adapted for children like Police Academy...

But did you know Aliens came short of a cartoon of its own, Operation: Aliens, only getting the cartoon-inspired toy line from Kenner?

#DeletedScene - Alien: Isolation original pitch

Courtesy from destructoid, we can now have a look at Creative Assembly's original pitch for Alien: Isolation!

These videos were showed part of a panel at GDC.

This first one is the original pitch video they made to sell the project to Sega (and Fox):



Already you could see the unique potential to go back to the original Alien 1, unlike most games based around the premise of James Cameron's second episode. Plus they were able to show the Alien could still be pretty impressive and scary! (The actual game would cut the whole Facehugger-infestation on the ship-thing)

What is more surprising is that the game apparently was going to be played in third person!

That's right, much in the same veign as other survival horror classics such as Resident Evil 4 or Dead Space.



I'm glad they went for the first person view ultimately, the over the should perspective always gives a more action-oriented tone. Plus having the view limited to what you see really helps puts you into this adventure/isolated spaceship.

#DeletedScene - This scrapped ALIEN project might resurrect one day!

I sure took my sweet time writing this new "DeletedScene" post. I was going to write about how District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp had pitched once how he would make a new Alien film to 20th Century Fox.. and since then it has actually been greenlighted and officially announced!

But let's back up how it all started.
