#NINTENDOnews some games from this last Nintendo Direct

A ton of stuff was showed during the last Nintendo Direct! Well, some stuff caught my eyes, including...

Another recent DK game, Donkey Kong Country Returns, is being ported to the Switch. Kinda weird to have this one released after the sequel, but there it is.

Metroid fans have been eating good lately. Re-releases. A new 2D title. And it's time for the new 3D title, it's about darn' time! Prime 4 is here!

While I'm more hyped to see Luigi Mansion 2 re-released outside a handheld system, Mario & Luigi fans rejoiced, the series is back as well! After Mario RPG and Mario vs. Donkey Kong, it's time for Mario & Luigi: Brothership to make a comeback! I admit, I never tried this series...

And finally, my favorite surprise in the bunch... a brand new Zelda game!

Not only that, a "brand new" game, not another port or remake.

Not only that, but using the same artstyle as Link's Awakening! Which is a great idea, it would be dump to not use that style direction for one more game!

And not only that but a game where you play as Zelda! It's truly a Legend of Link instead this time around! She got her own smart gameplay, since Link uses the triforce or courage with his weapons, she uses the triforce of wisedom..and therefore powers based on magic!

AND the gameplay seems to be a mix of the openworld sandbox of the last couple of main Zelda games mixed with the upgrade-gating progression of the classic games. It all sounds pretty interesting.

AND AND AND.. it's already coming this september!!

I'm all in! Can't wait!!

#GamingNEWS Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet | Announcement Trailer

It seems like nothing will stop The Pokémon Company. With Nintendo, they've been slowly but steadily releasing new Pokémon games for a while now. I even bought into Pokkén and New Pokémon Snap. In fact after decades not playing any of it, I finally started playing through Pokémon Sword recently.. and Legend Arceus was released since then.. and now another mainline Pokémon title announced:

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet! Which looks like a mix of the traditional structure of Sword/Shield mixed with the open world of Arceus. And it actually looks a bit better, visually.

They sure keep pumping these last few titles one after another!

The new starters look.. nice. And the game's even already coming late 2022.

#GamingNEWS Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Mouthful Mode Reveal - Nintendo Switch

The new Kirby looks both epic on a Breath of the Wild kind of scale. But also funny and story-driven like Mario Odyssey. Like the next obvious step in Nintendo's current take on their franchises. I dig it!

Might be the first Kirby I check out in a really long while.

#GamingNEWS KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series - Nintendo Switch

The two first Klonoa games are getting a re-release on the Switch!

I can already imagine the game won't have a physical... outside Japan. So get to Playasia and pre-order it once you can!

#GamingNEWS Kao the Kangaroo (2022) - Official Announcement Trailer

He's back! Kao the Kangaroo! (The original Dreamcast game was a neat if super-easy Crash Bandicoot-like clone.)

And it seems he's taking a lot of cues from Crash Bandicoot 4,  specifically the art style:

I really dig it. Looks better than any Kao game before! Sign me in!

#Blog #NoMoreHeroes Collection from Pix'n Love+Limited Run

So I finally just received my copy #NoMoreHeroes3 from Pix'n Love.

It's a lovely collection that goes almost-well with Limited Run's re-releases of NMH 1 and 2.

Here's the content of the collector's edition.

Art artbook, some pics.. and that's basically all. No pin? No sticker? Not even the fantastic soundtrack??

And here's my entire No More Heroes collection.
Now I kinda wish they could do the other Grasshopper Manufacture's title the same justice. They already did the Silver Case. Weren't there rumors about a Killer 7 port on the Switch as well as Flower, Sun and Rain's..?

#Blog #Doom Classic Collection from Limited Run

After half a year of patiently waiting for it - I know, there's a whole pandemic, etc. - but I waiting for a long time for this one. In the meantime I received the Limited Run Games-as well re-release of Doom 64 on Switch. The Doom helmet replica. (Still waiting for a physical release of Doom Eternal on Switch.. one can dream!)

But here it is. The beautiful old school PC-style collector's box. A much better collection than the half-digital one on PS4 or the messy BFG Edition from last gen.

With a ton of lovely goodies - specially one piece I have a few words to say below!

The traditional steelbook. A Red Key replica (?) A keychain. A modern day-reprint of a floppy disk - gonna take out my floppy disk reader just for that one! I have to check it out!

And the FRIGGIN' DOOM COMIC?!! YESSSS!!!

RIIIIIP AND TEAAAAR!!

I suppose it's canon again now thanks to Doom Eternal's multiple references to it.

We almost have the complete (physical) Doom series on the Switch now!

COME ON, LIMITED RUN! Put it on a special bigger collector cartridge! And then you can put up a little boxset to collect all 4 games. Like you did with Shantae or Crysis!!

DO IT!!

And now let's go back to the main piece.

Let's be honest, I would have gotten this collection just for the reprint of the epic cult classic Doom comic!

It already was a rare piece, which most of us Doom fans read online on scans. GT Interactive never made much copies of it, back then.

And I already missed the first reprint when I missed the id Anthology, which annoyed me for years... (Containing modern CD physical copies of the Keen series as well!)

Now I had to grab this for this new reprint of the Rip And Tear-Classic.

And the colors and paper quality is great, so I'm super happy with it.

This is HUUUUUUGE!! Because it has HUUUUGE GUTS!!!

#GamingNEWS New Sonic Team Game - Official Teaser Trailer | Sonic Central 2021

Sega finally made things official with Sonic's future. They made a little event called "Sonic Central" (yes, like that Sonic Central..) and showed a bunch stuff to celebrate Sonic's 30th Anniversary.

A new compilation, a remaster of a (random) not quite so old-older game, crossover stuff and a tease for the upcoming new non-Anniversary game, since it will now come out next year, 2022.

They officialized the remaster of Sonic Colors! A new port of Colors from 2010, coming on sep 7 on PS4, Switch, etc. Calling it Ultimate certainly means more content, right? I'd love a re-take on the story and new voice overs to make it closer in tone to past Sonic games instead of the last few-childish tone of the series...

There's gonna be new Sonic Colors-inspired short cartoons, like most recent games have received. Which makes Sonic Colors more relevant than ever, giving weird theories that Sega want to pursue Sonic Colors' "story"...

A new collection, Sonic Origins, which will bring the smartphone ports of Sonic 1, 2, CD along Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Can they add some actual surprises? Each new compilation has had less and less games since Sonic Mega Collection/Gems Collection.. How about Chaotix? SegaSonic?

Lots of crossover Sonic-themed content to a bunch of games including Two Point Hospital and Lost Judgement (the new Yakuza-style game from Sega).

The Mario-less Sega’s Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Roger Craig Smith returning to continue voicing Sonic again.

And finally..

A little tease for Sonic's upcoming big new (3D?) game. People have been loving the tease. Thinking Sonic Adventure 1 remake etc. But me, personally, this gives me weird vibes of a Sonic Colors sequel (wisps and boost energy-inspired effects) MIXED with the old Sonic 2006 "realistic forest run" vibes...

Wait and see...

#Blog The Complete Shantae Collection

I just received a new batch of Limited Run games.

I already had most of the Shantae titles (I will probably make a follow-up post about that..). But with the re-release of the first two games on the Switch they also offered this lovely collector's box. Which mean I can finally display them all together! (Sorry limited edition for Half-Genire Hero..)

They look great together! Makes me want to marathon through the series again!

#Blog Samurai Jack on the Switch

I just received a new batch of Limited Run games.

Check this one out ;)

Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape shifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, and flung him into the future where my evil is law.

#Design - CustomCoverArt Switch Nefarious & Wonder Boy Returns

Please! Do not ask for these! This was a personal job, not outsourcing the work to other people. If you want me to work out something for you, I will do so for money only.

I redid a couple of Switch games covers, those few digital titles I had that didn't have proper physical releases (yet?). I kinda based these on the PC covert arts I did a while ago actually.

As usual, comments disabled here to avoid the spam I get on these.

#NintendoNEWS Return to the Sinnoh region + A familiar region. A new story.

So after a disappointing Nintendo Direct and a disappointing Playstation State of Play, GameFreaks and The Pokémon Company came with banger announcements. And I might not even be into Pokémon personally, only having played Red back in the old GB days, I gotta admit this is how you show new stuff and launch kickass announcement trailers.

Get the latest from the Lental region! #NewPokemonSnap

First up, is some more news/look into the New Pokemon Snap. I gotta say, I like the look of this smaller-scale simple non-violent take on a rail shooter game. The original N64 was pretty good, for a more chill experience.

Then the announcement of the usual remake/update games, this time it's the turn of Diamond and Pearl to get the "Link's Awakening" treatment.

Return to the Sinnoh region in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl!:

And finally a brand new game - already! Not that long after Sword and Shield, and in fact it will be coming along right after the Pearl and Diamond remakes.

Pokémon Legends Arceus: A familiar region. A new story.

Wow! It's sort of an actual improvement/reimagining of the formula, like fans had been asking for ages! It seems to take some cues from Zelda Breath of the Wild (and Bowser's Fury), with a proper sandbox world to explore and a more free system to roam around the world. So more emphasis on capturing wild Pokémon rather than cups and championships and facing enemies with Pokémons.

It actually does look... interesting. I like how this one seems to take after classic Japan imagery, after the American/French/Britain-inspired games.

#GamingNEWS The Good Life | Publishing Announcement | PEGI

Finally! Swery65's new game The Good Life has finally been picked up by a publisher! And I can't wait for it!

I finished The Missing about a month or so ago. And I can’t wait for this one. I love his little touches and quirks, it makes all his games all sorts of charming, weird and captivating. and I like his recent Bingo-of gaming genres, lately. Back then from Extermination-Spy Fiction-Deadly Premonition 1, most of the games played and looked pretty similar. But the last few The Missing-DP2-The Good Life are such huge departures from one game to the next. I can’t wait!

The game's scheduled to launch on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in summer 2021.

#GamingNEWS BALAN WONDERWORLD | A Spectacular Preview - Announcement Trailer

All new game announcements might have only be made online, but it's not like it changes anything for us gaming fans overseas.

Anyways, nothing really caught my eye in a real long while. Nothing from big name publishers, Ubisoft, Sony and the likes...

And I haven't found any good captivating new indie titles for my taste.

Just while I was missing the A-tier/C-tier games from past generations (we still got some B-movie equivalents in games, thanks japan - specially Swery and Suda productions), here comes Yuji Naka - creator of NiGHTS and Sonic, and Naoto Ohshima, Sonic's original designer as well!

During the virtual Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase event, a long-rumored new platformer from Square Enix was revealed to be this new Yuji Naka creation. It's titled Balan Wonderworld. It looks and feels like a NiGHTS spiritual successor, in a more action platformer fashion like Billy Hatcher. Check it out, it looks really fun and original:

Man, finally something to get hyped about! Coming to most consoles at a later date.

#GamingNEWS Mr. Driller DrillLand - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Did you know there's a new Mr. Driller coming up? Now that's what I call gaming news! Keep your dark depressing "AAA" bullcrap for you.

The sequel/spinoff series of the classic Dig Dug's getting a new installment, Mr. Driller DrillLand!. on the Switch!

And it looks pretty nice so far:

I'm ordering the Japanese physical release, for sure.

#GamingNEWS Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - MinMin ARMS DLC Fighter Reveal Trailer

MinMin joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Seriously, was I the only one who enjoyed ARMS? It wasn't that amazing, but it was a fairly decent first entry for a new fighter.

I'm glad they went with the cute MinMin and not the main male or female ARMS fighters. You know, those that are all over the marketing, cover art, menus, etc. I don't even remember their name! But I was all about MinMin or Twintelle. I'm fine with MinMin, her whole noodles-gimmick is quite fun.

Plus she seems to play pretty fine in Smash too:
