#E32021news End of the show, Nintendo saves E3 again

Allow me this little exageration on the title, but that's what it feels like reading off other people's comments or news articles.

Anyways, Covid or not, this has been another slightly lackluster E3 show. I get how the current situation probablyl slowed down most game devs...

But here we are! The last presentations have been streamed! Most publishers announced stuff! Nintendo actually showed games coming this year 2021 instead of 2022 (aside from a Breath of the Wild 2 teaser).

Let's check this out in no particular order:

First up, bye bye the only exclusive game on Xbox SX (is that how you spell it?) I kinda wanted. The Medium will come to PS5 now, as I guessed. I really enjoyed Bloober Team's Layers of Fear or the recent Blair Witch game. I didn't want to miss this horror title featuring the return of Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka on the music.

We will apparently get a brand new Super Monkey Ball! I mean, not a new game. Like the last one which was a remaster, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is a remix of the original "trilogy", meaning SMB1, 2 and Deluxe (which was actually a remaster of 1 and 2 on the Xbox..?). A neat little package of over 300 of levels with a ton of bonus and modes right on time for the 20th anniversary of the Super Monkey Ball series!

On the Nintendo side, plenty of stuff. Starting with a brand new WarioWare, WarioWare: Get It Together! I like this news, but part of me wishes we could get a new Wario platformer instead...

After teasing a new Metroid Prime, Nintendo instead went back to the original sidescroller series and announced the long rumored and canceled Metroid 5 (which started on GBA before moving to the DS and then.. nothing),Metroid Dread. This looks great. I know lots of people will enjoy this one, including my bro who is a big fan of the series.

And finally while everyone wanted old games (people kept making up rumors and leaks about a Zelda Anniversary collection with the Wii U/3DS versions of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess), Nintendo instead decided to show us some more of Breath of the Wild 2. Which seems to take a lot after Skyward Sword - which kinda explains the re-release actually. Exploring floating island over the world map, freejumping and more of the good stuff from the original BotW, which easily remains one of my fav entries with Zelda 1.

So a bit more good stuff over here.

I wanted new actual games from this whole E3 show. Not just remakes and re-releases. I'm sick and tired of the gritty action photorealistic-stuff. Give me more imaginative and colorful stuff. No wonder I spend more time replaying 8/16-bit stuff lately over current games. And even more homebrew and indie stuff. (Did you know the Sega Megadrive/Genesis has, like, 50 upcoming new titles this year alone??)

All in all.. I'm only here for Zelda and the Guardians of the Galaxy game, I guess.

See you next year!

#E32021news Psychonauts 2 - Official Gameplay Trailer - Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2021

This looks fun. And also - it's about time!

#E32021news Day 1-2-3 and Square Enix mostly I guess

 It's time for some E3 2021 news!

And by E3, I mean the digital version of E3's announcements.. which is basically what 99% of the world received every year actually. No live con. But we kept all the cringe one man shows and talk shows... Yes. Not that great.

And you know what isn't that great? The games. All the games announced so far.

This is me trying to get motivated for a few upcoming stuff.

Maybe I'm just getting a bit... tired of it all? I dunno...

Honestly nothing caught my eyes much so far. Microsoft/Xbox/Bethesda news? Nothing much really... I'll post Psychonauts later.

Sony? SoNo. Meh...

Nintendo? Nothing yet (where are you Zeldaaaaa??). The Mario and Rabbids stuff.. bleh.. Give us a new Xcom instead of this weird IP crossover that plays like Xcom..

Indie stuff? We get better announements throughout the year, no need for a whole E3 for that.

Some Square Enix stuff did catch my attention. Let's see... in no particular order...

The new Life Is Strange looks nice. And sounds intriguing.

We're getting yet another Marvel game from Square Enix in the form of... a brand new original Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy? Sign me up!

This is better than Marvel's Avengers from the go, it's a single-player focused action game. They even (randomly) brought back the interactive story aspect à la Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy! It's an original story inspired by a 2015 comic book arc. Playing from Starlord's POV, with orders assigned to the party FFXV-style. I can dig it.

Plus it will have a great 80s-inspired OST, what's not to like!

On the Final Fantasy-side of things, we got a confirmation of the rumored FF1 remake. It's a SoulBorne-style action game from Team Ninja (who also made Nioh). It seems like an interesting way to re-explore the NES classic, since it was a more generic and openworld-ysh early take on Final Fantasy. Works fine for the formula. I even recognized the first dark knight you could fight north of the starting area.

The only things that isn't working for me is the weird FFXV realistic protagonists. I expected the crazier knight, thief, ninja, wizard classes of the original FF1 art design, which had been revamped several times in games like Dissidia and whatnot.

 WHERES GIANT-HORNED KNIGHT DUDES??

And we will apparently get a "pixel remaster" collection of the original FF1-6, which I have been currently replaying.. so it's kinda annoying to me in a way. But it hasn't been announced for consoles yet... what?? Where's the Switch port of this collection? Are you crazy, Square? This would sell easier on consoles than PC! The audience for this is the nostalgic kind, and they wanna play in front of their TV with a pad in hand, not next to a computer!

I'm liking the "pixel remaster" mention, considering the awful 3D-ysh or 2D flash-like remakes they made on Steam or smartphones these last few years. Bring in the pixel-versions of these games, put them on wider resolutions. Done. Use the PSX/GBA revamped score. Done and done. Use a modern HD UI. Maybe the original art for the character portraits. But keep the characters as 2D sprites.

And that's all for this part of the first few days of E3 2021.

If there's more interesting things, I will make other posts. Otherwise, THAT'S IT! THAT'S THE SHOW!

Not-#E32020 NEWS! Ubisoft new titles

So everyone's doing "online conventions" lately, what with our current Post-Covid world (not really, you know what I mean, let's not get into details..).

Ubisoft did their own "not E3" reveals and announcements.

Let's see what they had for us in store...

A new Trials - those silly lil' games are always fun, aren't they? Here's some upcoming events added to Trials Rising:

We got a new Watch Dogs! You all remember Watch Dogs, don't you? Here's some Watch Dogs: Legion:

Far Cry 6!! Aka "more of the same: the new Far Cry entry":

And the long-awaited Assassin's Creed Valhalla! I dig Vikings, this seems fun:

#BestOf #E32019 COMPILATION

It's that time of the year again. We got some gold ones last year, this year wasn't that great.. Neither show-wise nor comedic-wise.

Really, the best things about this year was Keanu Reeves' appearance as well as Bethesda' Ikumi Nakamura genuine wholesome presentation:

And here's some compilation for this year's best-of:

This year had some weird moments!

#E3news The big E3 2019 Recap post

Hey everyone.

This week marked the big E3 2019 even, in LA. You know what? I've been mostly offline this past week. So I finally decided to catch it all in one sitting. And boy, there's been quite a few great new announcements, tidbits, trailers and some occasional goofy and cringe moments in what was yet another packed E3 experience.

Since this is my page, let's only recap the things I'm interested in or I've something to say about.

#GamingNEWS The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan | The Sinking City

Two awesome looking horror games were just announced for the PS4.

First up a nice-sounding Lovecraft game, there hadn't been any new one in a long while. The Sinking City. Strangely this one reminds me of Murdered Soul Suspect, a small horror-ysh title. Maybe it's gonna be similar in tone and style, even with the simple graphics and gameplay. I'd be fine with that.

And the second sounds pretty great. It's the new game from the Until Dawn/Hidden Agenda crew. This time it's going to be an anthology series of small budget-priced titles, called Dark Pictures. The first episode is called... Man of Medan! Check it out:

Looks like we'll have to wait a year, both are set to be released around august next year.

#BestOf #E32018 CRINGE COMPILATION

FINALLY!!

It's that time of the year! Time for a compilation of this year's best moments of E3. And by best in mean yet another Cringe Compilation.

I've checked a few on youtube. And none seem to be perfect or have all my favorite moments. But this one comes close, so check it out instead of those huge youtube channels making 30-minute long cringe compilations full of edits and memes. I want the raw original footage, not your random inserts!

#E3News My Hero One's Justice - PS4/XB1/PC/Switch - E3 trailer (English Trailer)

I've really been into the My Hero Academia manga series lately. And this trailer for the upcoming game My Hero One's Justice makes it look pretty fun to play with these fun colorful heroes and villains!

Can't wait!!

#E32018 Maneater reveal trailer - PC Gaming Show 2018

The most random and ambitious game of this year's E3? A man-eating shark MMORPG!

#E32018 A Plague Tale: Innocence – E3 Trailer

Finally, a fun different and original new game announced at E3.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a sort of survival/adventure game taking place during the height of the black plague back in France. And it looks pretty good if I may say so:

#E32018 CONTROL Announcement Trailer - E3 2018 - ESRB

Remedy is back with a brand new concept, simply called CONTROL.

And this time it's gonna be multi-platform unlike Quantum Break.

A brand new original IP from them. But also, the game seems to have a bit of all their past titles in its DNA, pretty close to their last game Quantum Break on the surface, but also the same shadow-y aspect as Alan Wake, and the gunplay from Max Payne.

We got a gritty and a noir cop murder mystery, horror, time travel and now aliens! UFOs! Area 51!!

CONTROL is scheduled to release in 2019 for PS4/PS4 Pro, Xbox One/Xbox One X, PC (digital only)

#E32018 Resident Evil 2 | E3 2018 PlayStation Showcase Trailer | PS4

WOW!! WOOW!!! I need this asap!!

Capcom finally showed how much they're actually remaking Resident Evil 2 with this new RE remake. And this is gonna be on a whole new level compared to RE1 and RE0.

Check this out, I CANT WAIT!!!!

LEON!!!!!!

(Also, check out the RE7-ified RE2 logo! Neat!!)

The game can't arrive soon enough, it's expected for January 25, 2019.

#E32018 Day 2 Square Enix was apparently there too

Seriously though...

Most disappointing show so far?

#E32018 Day 2 And then Ubisoft had.. nothing much?

It's Ubisoft's turn now...

..but really they didn't have much in store in my eyes.

#E32018 Day 2 Sony strikes back

Next up we had Sony, Ubi and Square Enix's conferences.

Mostly stuff people expected. And some disappointing absences for highly awaited announcements. Let's begin with Sony.

#E32018 Team Sonic Racing - E3 Trailer

With the new E3 trailer, the recently revealed Team Sonic Racing game from Sumo Digital also comes with a brand new Jun Senoue/Crush 40 song! Awesome:

It all looks pretty silly. I would have loved smaller/cartoonier/kart vehichles Sonic Drift/Mario Kart-style. And I hope there's some random characters as part of the cast, Sonic or Sega ones. Come on, give me Ray and Might! Heck, even one of the Deadly Six dorks!

#E32018 Devil May Cry 5 - Announcement Trailer

So after comparing the sales between the HD re-releases of Devil May Cry 1-4 and Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry, Capcom decided to return to the OG series and announce a . Devil May Cry 5! Check this out:

There's a quick cameo of the original Dante right there at the end. (Although I find Dante's successor to be quite reminiscent of nuDante. With a best of Dante's gameplay techniques.)

Game's coming up in spring 2019 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

#E32018 Cuphead DLC Announcement Trailer

Cuphead's getting some DLC, called "The Delicious Last Course", adding a new lady character named Ms. Chalice! Check this out:

Oh, man. I love the style and the music. Reminds me I still need to play this at some point...
