#GamingNEWS of the decade! Half-Life: Alyx Announcement Trailer

I remember writing somewhere online only a few days ago that the impossible was finally made possible! Shenmue 3 was finally released!

And of the three legendary "development hell" turned "vaporware", two had actually been released over this past decade:

Duke Nukem Forever (no matter how you feel about the game, I honestly never ever expected to finally see it released.. in one form or another!)
Shenmue III
And Half-Life 3.

2 down. 1 to go.

Well, like right on the clock, Valve randomly announced a new Half-Life title. And sure it might not be no Half-Life 3 nor Half-Life 2: Episode 3. After all they don't seem to be able to count up to 3 (looking at you Portal, Team Fortress and Left 4 Dead series as well). But it is indeed a new Half-Life title.

And the whole internet went through all phases of acceptance, laugh, denial, anger... for you see, it was announced as a VR-exclusive title!

I know, it sucks. I personally don't have VR as well. But I've been through the entire generations of consoles. I'm familiar with exclusives, I'm used to them. That's how I missed the entire PS2 library originally and only finally got myself familiar with some later ports and a Japanese PS2 I finally got. And I also skipped the entire PS3 library, but there were less exclusives there, and some like the Uncharted titles ended up re-released on PS4 later..

ANYWAYS, getting sidetracked here..

A new Half-Life game! An Half-Life spinoff, sure! But modern Half-Life with modern visuals! That's pretty neat!

I'll check this whenever they release a non-VR suported version... or in a decade or so. I'm patient, I'm used to play older games a gen later.

#Randomz - Ten years of saying NOPE to Half-Life 3

Here's an hilarious video compiled by CrowbCat, which has been going around news articles.

It’s already been a decade since fans have been awaiting for a sequel to Half-Life. Here's the various interviews where Gabe Newell's been seen talking about this vaporware of a game...

I love how it started with Episode 3, "to conclude the trilogy!", then morphed to simply Half-Life 3 because it had been too long since the actual episodes. And then at some point he went from "the game is coming up!" to "what game? I'm not talking..".

Haha.

As much as I adore the series, I honestly don't believe we're ever gonna see a continuation in my own lifetime.... HL3 is dead.

Now, where's Portal 3? (What? Valve don't know that number "3"? Just call it Portal: Episode 1 instead!)

#E3 LateNews! - Portal! PORTAL everywhere!!

Wait a minute... Shenmue 3 was finally confirmed? And we will finally get a Final Fantasy 7 remake? And The Last Guardian will be released!?!

This can only mean one thing... The apocalypse!!!

Or... #HalfLife3Confirmed guys!!!

Wait, did we get anything vaguely Half-Life-ysh or from Valve at this E3 this year? Well, not exactly...

The super-duper random epic Lego crossover game LEGO Dimension will be getting a Portal pack! Featuring GlaDos! And even Stephen Merchant reprising his role!

Man, I just can't get used to seeing Legos talking, but that's probably just me.

AND

Pinball FX 2 will also be getting a standalone Portal-themed table!

Portal everywhere! That sort of counts as Half-Life-ysh, right? Man, I wish Valve simply decided to jump on the hype-train bandwagon and randomly announced HL3 even if they're not actually planning to go through with it, just to mess with people. Could you imagine it?

At this point I'd actually take a Portal 3 instead, what with all the promotion the series' been getting lately.

#Randomz - Super Heroes vs Game Heroes

Here's the ultimate crossover to end 'em all (it even reminds me of the first thing I've ever seen on the internet, ever, way back when*).

From the good folks at CorridorDigital.

Simply epic beyond words!!!

VGR HλLF-LIFE 2

The second game in this cult classic series.

Some call the first Half-Life one of the defining titles in the FPS genre. Six years after the original, Half-Life 2 did it all over again!

VGR HλLF-LIFE

By now, every gamer out there knows and already has an opinion on this cult classic.

But allow me to review it for the sake of having the original Half-Life up here reviewed on my blog!

#Design - unreleased Fanzasy Zone & Half Life custom cover art

Here's some custom cover art I designed for scrapped unreleased games I burnt on discs for my collection! :P

This is a custom cover for the unreleased Space Fantasy Zone! It's a Fantasy Zone game which plays like a Space Harrier!
I actually based it on  one fanmade cover project I found in low res on google. Since I couldn't simply use it for quality reason, I tried to recreate it with my own touch. (I made a little 4 pages booklet with screens and Fantasy Zone art - not showed here above)

Here's my own take for the oh-so "famous" unreleased Dreamcast Half-Life prototype.
The game's actually fully playable, saves and all. (I believe this was a Gold prototype)
The bios is available "around" online and works perfectly once burnt on disc.

Please! Do not ask for these! This was a personal job, not outsourcing the work to other people. If you want me to work out something for you, I will do so for money only.

#FanFilm Friday - ENTER THE FREEMAN

Here's a pretty amazing looking fanfilm for today!

It's a fantastic faithful recreation of the universe of Half-Life!

Check it out, they got it all, headcrabs, crowbars, and HEV suits!
I'm pretty sure even Hollywood wouldn't be able to get this close to the real thing.
And it took director Ian James Duncan about $3,000 to produce it. Woah!

Enjoy!

"Finally see Gordon Freeman in the flesh in this cinematic horror short based on the video game Half-Life. Yes there will be headcrabs...
Shot by fans over two nights in a cottage in the middle of Hollywood for about $3000.
It all started with the comment "Hey you would make a great live action Gordon Freeman, let's make a fan film". A year later we finally got around to it."
I know, I know. Gordon Freeman is talking. So what?!

#FanFilm Friday - "The Art of the Instakill"

Here's a video for the day!

Have you ever wondered how a fight between Halo, Mass Effect, Battlefield, Modern Warfare and many more would look like?
Excuse me, but was that the sound of your eyebrow, rising up?
Then I guess you will enjoy this following video.

Check this out, while several various random characters stab each other in the guts!

A bunch of different shooters duck it out, so we can finally answer this question: Who's the best at "instakills"?
(oh, and warning! several stabbing involved in the above video!)

FanFilmFriday: Beyond Black Mesa

It's time to check out another fan made video!
Since a 'rea' Half-life movie has been in development hell for so long, let's check out what fans can do:

This is the proof that you don't need  huge-ass budgets to make something look good and true to the source material!

FPS games!

Here's a little discussion/reflexion about First Person Shooters.

I've been playing FPS games for so many years...probably since I started gaming (well, as soon as Doom and Duke Nukem 3D hit the gaming market)
It's always been a guilty pleasure of mine...
They're not really my favorite genre, not anymore at least, but I can always find some fun playing through a FPS.

I had my Arena/Deathmatch/Multiplayer FPS moments.. But I only like coming back to the scripted/level based games now. Plus you won't find people online playing the older ones, only the current new-cool stuff the kids do these days (Halo 3/ODST/Reach, Left4Dead...) and I prefer the older ones or at least the original new ones over the multiplaying ones.
