GODDAMMIT!!!

I had so much hope and hype for this one... My favorite manga series about robots (sorry, Ghost in the Shell..)... Robert Rodriguez directing it..  A relatively decent cast...

But instead we got "this"!?!! To "mimic" the manga artstyle???



Just...

Ugh...

I can't... I need time to process this result...

We don't even get any cyber/punk feel from this production!!!

Robert Rodriguez, how could you let us down so much....!! Sigh...

This is just gonna be a secondhand DVD-buy from me...

Here's the first official proper trailer for the Ghost in the Shell live action film with Scarlett Johansson and Takeshi Kitano (!!)!



Wow!

All I can say is that despite all the internet hate and the "controversies", they got GitS spot on! This is as good as an Hollywood adaptation nowadays will ever get!! In fact I think it might launch several more anime adaptations - which Dragon Ball Evolution completely failed a few years back. Wow!

I was pleasantly surprised here! Now if someone can make a live action Akira this good.. who am I kidding? Of course they'll butcher that one...

CBR Vigilante

 

I've always been a big fan of the Vigilante.
It's a fun concept, if there is one.

The question isn't who is, but who are the Vigilantes.

There's been several incarnations of this guy throughout the history of DC Comics.
But the basic pitch is always the same, a guy becomes a vigilante anti-hero to avenge some wrongs done by a society that just doesn't care about justice anymore.

My favorite version being the gun toting cowboy hat-wearing blue-costumed red-scarfed one.
He even made a fan favorite guest appearance on the Brave & The Bold cartoon, guitar singing and all!

So let's check out his very own mini, published in the 90s.

In development simultaneously alongside the production of the 2nd Rocketeer comic book ("Cliff's New York Adventure"), it was mostly supervised under the eye of its creator Dave Stevens who wrote the basis for the adaptation, with a director - Joe Johnston - who wanted to make a great faithful adaption this character deserved.
