#CartoonNEWS Earthworm Jim Animated TV Series - Interview Jim

There's an upcoming cartoon (and game?) reboot of Earthworm Jim coming up. Without series creator Doug TenNapel (because.. I guess modern politics got hime too?), and without game director David Perry's involvement. I dunno how to feel about this. Feels too much like an Hollywood reboot/remake, you know. Without the original creators and a completely different direction.

I mean, I also miss Dan Castellaneta's voice here. And the new setting/setup seems too different. A bunch of worms? Jim is fullon an alien worm, not just an Earth worm given a supersuit? Not one Psy-crow but a full on "Psy-crow-inspired species"? I dunno.. And I imagine they're gonna cut the classic characters that are either Doug TenNapel's or too 1990s (goodbye Princess What's-Her-Name, I'm sure). It kinda feels too distanced, too Sonic Boom-ysh for me.

Wait and see..

#GamingNEWS Earthworm Jim 4 first look [UPDATED & 60fps!] - Exclusively on Intellivision® Amico™

So apparently I missed the memo.

There's seemingly a brand new upcoming Earthworm Jim 4 on the way. There's some random new console Intellivision Amico coming in as well. And EJ4 seems to be exclusive to it so far.

Maybe it's a temporary deal kind of thing. Like the new Shantae on the then-new Apple console...

Anyways, it looks a bit too clean, modern and Newsground-y for my taste. I prefer my Earthworm Jim more doodly and sketchy, like coming from the pages of a Doug TenNapel comic. Heh.

Check it out:

#Blog - Tec Toy Sega!

I just received some swag today!

A couple of fun oddities. Two Brazil-exclusive Sega/Tec Toy titles. The exclusive Duke Nukem port for the Megadrive/Genesis, and the MS port of Earthworm Jim.

They're not exactly considered good games, but I like 'em! It's fun having them nonetheless!

Sent from Brazil by a buddy of mine I having keeping a lookout for obscure little gems like these.

#Comics NEWS! Doug TenNapel NEEDS YOU!

Hey folks!
Remember Doug TenNapel?

Doug TenNapel - the author of so many graphic novels I love such as Bad Island, Cardboard, Ghostopolis, Iron West, (etc.) and co-creator of the awesome 16-bit classic Earthworm Jim, has launched a Kickstarter!

Doug TenNapel Sketchbook Archives: Check it out here!

He needs our help to put together a fantastic 250+ pages hardcover book where he'll try to collect sketches, doodles, concepts and designs of all of his creations, the likes of Earthworm Jim, The Neverhood, Catscratch, Creature Tech and more!

I know, I know...
Another Kickstarter!
But come on! For once it's not a videogame (at least, not directly!)

In the meantime, enjoy this fun video in which Doug discusses comics, making them and whatnot:

#OpeningTheme - #EarthwormJim

I adore Doug TenNapel and everything Earthworm Jim-related.
I still hope that long rumored 4th game materializes some time, though I'm sad all those ideas for a long feature film and/or new animated series never took shape.

Oh well, at least the ol' classic 90s show's easily available nowadays.

Here's the opening - which was so insane and perfect!
Enjoy,

Gamin' NEWS! Mass2PS3

So, Mass Effect 2's coming to the Playstation 3, heh? What a random surprise -__-
I guess it's good news for PS3 gamers. Though not playing part 1 and transferring it's data to part 2 before might be a bit strange...

I for one do not own a PS3, nor would plan on re-buying a game I already have...
But I hope for those new ME-players it will be a good port.
You may already know my stance on various console ports.
Like a little upgraded port or at least an equal port, thanks to the big delay. It better not be a cheap-ass port, a "downgrade", only producers will make profits that way over the enjoyment of the game for the players :/

It will be out in January 2011. I suppose preparing the way for a future multi-console Mass Effect 3 late-2011/earyl-2012?

-

Anyway, I'm gonna use this port to share out a little opinion.
Why do producers need to de-exclusivise games nowadays so much? Why the multiplatforming?
Well, for money of course, but why is money the only motivation/main aspect of games nowadays?
Gaming's become such a big market/important business now... remember when things were simpler and a bit less hollywood-ised?

Everything multi-console now, to expand the market you know...
I find that exclusive games leave a sort of impact, become bigger classics that way..
You have to own the system, it makes you part of "the club". And console fanboys suck it! They complain for lacking that title? Well buy that system! Or play it at a friend's place, you know, like real life friends right?
Or simply DON'T PLAY it! You aren't forced to play every single game ever made! It's not pokémons, don't try to catch 'em all!!

Aren't games like these above classics by being all-time exclusives, only available for their own systems?
- Chaotix and Tempo on the 32X, Psycho Fox on the Master System, Ducktales and Chip & Dales on the NES, Crash Bandicoot 1-2-3 on the PSX, Burning Rangers on the Saturn, Sonic Shuffle on the Dreamcast, PN03 on the Gamecube, etc..
It's like you need to be a lucky possessor of the system, one of the cool guys who own it, to have the chance to play those!

Well, that's what I wanted to say~

Here's another look at some more gaming music and its inspiration!
