For a movie that had remained titled “the untitled Deadpool sequel” I
was kind of expecting to see the final product simply called “Cable
& Deadpool” as a reference to the long-running comic series.
But I suppose Deadpool 2 works too.
Yesterday evening I went for a late night screening of Deadpool 2 over here. And to make things short, simply put, I loved it!
What's with all these so-called "final trailers" lately!?
Loved all the random silly meta-jokes! Thanos!!! That jab at the DC Universe! Is Deadpool getting more Marvel-y now that Marvel bought Fox? Shatterstar is finally on the big screen! Domino does look sweet actually (love the actress!!). Cable is pretty kickass!!
There's a new trailer for Deadpool 2Cable & DeadpoolThe Untitled Deadpool Sequel, which gives us a better look at the film's story, how funny it still is and the John Wick-flair I was hoping the sequel would have. Check this out:
Let's enjoy the last batch of 20th Century Fox films this year, while Disney goes through the buyout and Fox releases their last current ongoing productions before getting absorbed.
One thing they got right last time and which I hope will be equally awesome is the upcoming Deadpool 2. Despite Fox's "lackluster" trackrecord (just check any of the AVP films, recent Die Hards, or heck, it's a tradition, look back at the great but cheap Planet of the Apes films way back when), it did work out ok for Deadpool to be made cheaper and completely in the hands of their creator (and life action-Deadpool Ryan Reynolds). Deadpool 2 looks like more of the same so far. I kinda wish it was called Cable & Deadpool though.
Why? Check out this fantastic great new trailer which brings Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool face-to-face with Josh Brolin's Thanos Cable!
I warmed up to this version of Domino and Cable's casting. Marvel can bring over the whole trio to the MCU!! And the official youtube description was equally hilarious:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
Can't wait for this film! Deadpool 2 comes out May 18.
Ryan Reynolds just revealed on his twitter how Domino will look in the upcoming film Deadpol 2/Deadpool & Cable (?).
Domino's gonna be played by the lovely Zazie Beetz. While it's easy to imagine how Josh Brolin will look like as Cable, here's the first proper look at Domino:
Ok. I got mixed feelings here. Obviously, she doesn't exactly look like her comic book counterpart. Which was expected from 20th Century Fox (see Apocalypses, Negasonic, etc.). Which is a shame next up to the amazing Deadpool costume or Colossus. On the other hand I still think this is a perfect casting choice with this gorgeous hilarious actress.
I kinda wish they had done the hairdo.. or at the very least given her a black spot instead of that white spot..
Here's the original concept art they showed:
Which some fans fixed (it's a shame she doesn't look a little bit more like this..):
All in all.. mixed feelings. Maybe this will look great on screen. Wait and see...
I really originally intended to review this one last year, but for some reason I just kept forgetting to do so or putting it aside for later... So I'll let Deadpool take over this review to finally get it done. Wade? Can you do that for me?
"Sure, sure, buddy. I'll cover your ass just this one time. Hey, at least I'm not reviewing an X-Men movie, amIright?"
-Wade Wilson, merc' with a mouth, eternal romantic and fastest chimichanga eater in the East Coast.
Trolls like to hate on Rob Liefeld nowadays on teh interwebz..
But some years ago it was people buying his stuff that made him the super-popular artist he came to be!
Even his portrait screams EXTREEEEME!!
Anyway, I still find it quite impressive how a guy like him, I never did any art school, came to define the art direction of most comics from the 90s.
Sure he may had some problems with proportions and/or feet. But he never aimed to draw realistically (it's called "stylized").
