#Ad DirectLineTV making some random epic pop culture ads for their services...!?

So there's this UK-based direct line TV company called, well DirectLineTV.

And they've been making some pretty interesting commercials lately. Using classic pop culture icons.

The latest of those which has been going all over social media. It features a CGi animated Ninja Turtle, Donnie to be precise. And he looks like a nice balance of modern CGi and his vintage comic/cartoon self. I feel like with some tuning this could be the perfect way to recreate the TMNT in a modern blokbuster, far from Anchor Bay/Michael Bay's reboot. Just some fine-tuning the nose and eyes to make him less cartoony.

#TVnews Doctor Who Series 12 Trailer - BBC

There's a trailer out for series 12 of the current iteration of Doctor Who:



Looks action-packed. Filled with old throwbacks.

They sure do take their sweet time with this show, heh? And don't tell me it's a UK thing. I followed some British series that aired new episodes faster than that!

#MovieNEWS Johnny English Strikes Again - Official Trailer (HD) - Coming Soon

They finally did it!!

Here's the trailer for the upcoming and long-awaited third Johnny English film, Johnny English Strikes Again! These films are a bit underrated compared to other spy parodies, but they always manage to stuck with me and make me laugh. Always featuring a pretty darn good ensemble cast too. Check this out:



The first film was more of a Pierce Brosnan-era James Bond parody while the second one was more of a Daniel Craig-Bond parody. This one seems like an approach at more generic James Bond-style stuff, no inspiration in particular, but it does remind me a bit more of the tone of the first film (even adding "Bough" as a returning character).

This time they even managed to get an actual ex-James Bond girl, Olga Kurylenko!

The film will be out on September 20. in the US and on October 12. for Europe.

#MusicBOX Mint Royale - Blue Song

In less than a year, Edgar Wright will release a new film on March 17, 2017!

Baby Driver, a crime comedy film. Not a Cornetto Trilogy film, but probably in the same vein. Since it won't star Pegg and Frost this time (still hoping for a cameo though!), Edgar Wright built an all-star cast, with Jon Hamm (!), Jamie Foxx (!!) and even Jon Bernthal (!!!).

While the Cornetto Trilogy films were all more or less inspired by episodes of Spaced, this film is actually taking inspiration from a music video Edgar Wright directed for the band Mint Royale's Blue Song.

In anticipation for the movie trailer, which shouldn't be long, check out the song:



Not only is this song fantastic, but the video clip itself is pure Edgar Wright-style! I love it!

I wish he uses this song in the film, somehow!

ComicPageOfTheWeekend: Death's Head meets The Doctor

How  mind boggling is this page? Death's Head is a character that originated in Marvel UK pages, used in the Transformers comics before being brought over to the regular Marvel Universe. And used to play off random crossovers like this one with Doctor Who below! I can't imagine the hassle producers would have to go through to recreate this page on the big screen:

Here is something fun! It's a young Mark Hamill explaining the original Star Wars on the BBC back in the 70s, before the world even knew what Star Wars would be like:



I love the way it clearly establishes how much closer to fantasy/fairy tales SW actually is instead of scifi:

“It’s the stuff that fairytales are made of. We have a fairy princess, we have an innocent farm boy who yearns for adventure. Alec Guinness is a wise old wizard who teaches me a mystical Force, somewhat like Merlin would teach a young King Arthur. The 70s were groovy, baby!

#Movie NEWS! London calling, and

I liked the dumb but fun Olympus Has Fallen. It wasn't as fun and Die Hard-esque as White House Down and took itself way too seriously, but it was a nice throwback to 90s action flicks.

Here's the trailer for the sequel nobody expected, London Has Fallen:



This might possibly much better than its predecessor. Just for the fact this is again all over happening to our main protagonist, I expect a few nods and jokes regarding how the same thing can happen to the same guy twice! London Has Fallen is expected to hit next year, on March 4th.

And while we're at it, here's a brand new better trailer of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming The Hateful Eight:



Nice! This finally give us a much better look and idea at what the film will probably be like. This will mark the end of his "Western trilogy". The film will be released for this Christmas, on December 25th!

#MonsterMovie NEWS! First trailers for Victor Frankenstein!

Did you know/remember there's a new Frankenstein movie coming up?

The film is called Victor Frankenstein and it will feature James MacAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe who appear to have great chemistry together.

This version of the film will feature a much younger Dr. Frankenstein (James McAvoy) and give more emphasis on this different take on Igor (Daniel Radcliffe) as both main characters. It was actually written by Max Landis and it's directed by Paul McGuigan.

The film will apparently go for a mix of horror, "horror comedy" and humor. (And no, the horror comedy genre is quite different from simply horror and comedy mashed together.)

Here's two completely different trailers for the film, giving a radically different vibe and tone for the film, one for the US and another one for the UK:





The film looks pretty fun if you ask me, much better than how the recent Dracula looked like if you ask me.

Victor Frankenstein is expected to be released this November 25.

A few interesting original new ideas caught me eye.

Microsoft surprised me, SquareEnix surprised everyone and Ubisoft did more of the same. Where's my Beyond Good and Evil 2!?!

#Ubisoft NEWS! New Assassin’s Creed game confirmed

Ubisoft finally confirmed the new Assassin’s Creed game. It's won't be titled Victory, as the initial rumors said, but instead will be called Syndicate.

The game will be released exclusively for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. This time it will take place in Victorian London, in 1868. And there will be two main characters, both a male and a female protagonists, the brother/sister duo of Jacob and Evie Frye.

Looks decent. In fact this seems to have a lot more personality than Unity had.

This time the game won't feature any multiplayer - which is great news for this type of annual game. At least that means more work and effort put into the development of the actual single player experience. And it appears some historic figures like Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens will appear in one form or another in the story.

Seriously, Ubi? More Pre-order/Season pass-shenanigans? You know I'll just ignore all as usual??

You might join the bandwagon and hate on the series all you want, I'm still surprised and glad to see a huge mainstream series play with and introduce history to gamers all over the world. Just for the sake of the "Ezio saga" alone, how many young kids would have never looked into Renaissance and the culture of Italy, not counting all the paintings, rich history and geography they managed to pack into these games? It's a lot more recommendable in my eyes than all those annoying similarly-yearly produced sports game if you ask me.

Following the success of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms and the re-release of King Kong on the big screen, a whole "giant monsters" trend would follow suit which the best and most popular iconic representant being the Japanese Godzilla series starting in '54.

But did you know the UK also had a try at its own giant creature inspired by the local culture in the form of Behemoth, the Sea Monster?
