#GamingNEWS Return to Monkey Island - Release Date Trailer - Nintendo Switch

Gimme this new Monkey Island ASAP!!! RIGHT NOW!!!

Is this game still a soft reboot/direct-sequel to MI2? Guybrush seems to retain his Tales of Monkey Island design here, making it a proper MI5 sequel..? Wait and sea (ha!),

EDIT: Update - Alright, stop everything! I see references to Curse, Escape and Tales in the gameplay trailer! So everything's canon? It's really Monkey Island 6 and not a direct sequel to MI2 finally???

#GamingNEWS Return to Monkey Island - Official Announcement Trailer

I hadn't posted the "Monkey Island 6" trailer over here YET, but I gotta I'm hyped!

Devolver Digital makes great games. Ron Rilbert is back to helm the series. It's another classic 2D point and click again, which is a nice return to form even though I love Escape and Tales. And it's appartently already coming this year!!

Even though the game is a mystery, we also know Michael Land is back on music duty and Dominic Armato as well as Guybrush.

#Blog #MonkeyIsland Anthology Collection from Limited Run

So I recently received this beautiful collector Anthology Collection from Limited Run. The Monkey Island Anthology!

I remember pre-ordering this a whole full year ago.. but it was worth the wait. (Except for a little weird  error, more on that below..)

Yeah, so I already had the entire Monkey Island series on PC.. but now I got it twice!

Anyways, the collector is also a huge excuse to get all these little awesome goodies, long time fans will recognize all these references.

Numbered LRG edition, signed by Ron Gilbert!

This book is awesome, full of behind the scenes stuff and details!

They made the funny missing floppy for real?? Plus the content's also on the USB key.
I wasn't expecting much from this Guybrush figure, but he looks fantastic!
Best frame ever.

My only complaint? A weird error in the listing of the games on the side... I mean, didn't anyone check this before it went to print??

And now, here's my entire Monkey Island collection:

Enjoy!

It's time to return to Monkey Island where we last left it.

It might not be the best adventure game ever, but that doesn't change how enjoyable a ride this is.

FanMusic - Monkey Island 2's Jojo The Monkey on the accordion

Since I recently posted this song from Monkey Island 2 a day or two ago, here's what is without a doubt my all-time favorite fan-cover of a game music. Ever.

It's been a favorite of mine since I first saw it a couple years ago!
I even made a shortcut on my keyboard just to launch it whenever, shortcut I've been keeping and carrying over when I changed computer and all.

Cover by Schadstoffmobil who sadly only uploaded a video on youtube since 2008.

MusicBox - "Jojo the Monkey"

Here's a very memorable musical piece from Monkey Island 2.

Some people dare say that in the old "retro" age, video games didn't have good music. But I dare to ask those same people this below isn't a fantastic composition!

RIP Jojo, the monkey.

Music - Metropole Orchestra does "The Curse of Monkey Island"~

This is easily the most amazing piece of music I've heard all year!!
Excuse me, the second biggest piece of music I've heard all year :P

Woah! Just.. WOAH!!!

Here's the Metropole Orchestra playing the opening theme from The Curse of Monkey Island.
Yup.

Anyway, see how epic this is?
Amazing!!
I'll be listening to this all day long~

Adventure Gaming

Here's the post in which I talk A LOT about the adventure genre.

Sure, adventure games seem to be coming back lately, with the LucasArts remakes and Telltale Games Studio's success...
But they've never really been away. It's indie studios like Autumn Moon (ex-LucasArts' Bill Tiller), Revolution Software (Broken Sword series) & Péndulo Studios (Runaway series) that kept the flame alive during the whole 2000s while nobody wanted to make these games anymore.

Adventure games. Be it Point-and-clicks or not.
The genre is often misattributed to games like Tomb Raider or Uncharted, for exemple.
I prefer to call those action games, platformers or even action-adventure.

No, those ain't real adventure games.

You fight like a guy who's trying to explain me how adventure games were and how they ended up today!

The adventure genre grew up side by side with what we call now RPGs.

While the consoles had games like Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy and many more 8-bit RPGs, home computers developed a parallel genre, less action-based since the controllers were keyboards (and later, mouses) and much more story driven.

Gamin' NEWS! A Vampyre Story 2

Games are like movies or comics.
There's not just AAA blockbuster titles. There's also smaller dev. teams and game less mainstream out there.

(that doesn't mean they're less "good", they just kinda come under the radar when released)

Since I love and want to support such games, here's some news about A Vampyre Story 2!

Gamin' NEWS! I'm Guybrush Threepwood, mighty Jedi

Hey there, pirate and Jedi fans!

The new Force Unleashed II is coming out soon.
To build up the hype, LucasArts just announced that Monkey Island's Guybrush Threepwood will be available as a skin to use (like the costumes in Force Unleashed 1).

That's the second biggest lightsabre-wielding Ghost pirate-hunter blond haired ingame-crossover surprise cameo-pirate I've ever seen!
The other being in Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.

Here's hoping it's not just a skin, and he will have his own voice clips, dubbed over by Dominic "Guybrush" Armato.
Hey, a man can dream!

What does this really hide? Was LucasArts working on a next gen Guybrush model for another reason?
Do they want to create a modern adventure game and not just special editions anymore?

The game will be out on October 26 (29 in EU).
In the meantime, we not check my Monkey Island 1 & 2 Review or try the recent rereleases "Special Edition"?

Gamin' NEWS! MI2 Special Edition~

While you can already check my review of the original Monkey Island 2 here, LucasArts has put up a new Trailer for their coming soon special edition.
Check it out:

Very nice and pretty funny too~

Now, if only they could make a new game with amazing 3D graphics like that (instead of the pre-rendered ones)...
Maybe that's how a future new Monkey Island 6 would look like (an in- house one, on a 2D-space I hope).

Anyway, modern LucasArts/ILM cgi sure looks amazing! Like the recent Force Unleashed 2 trailer!

VGR LeChuck's Revenge

And here's MONKEY ISLAND 2!

Very great sequel! One of the best example of how good a sequel should always be, even if they released it only a year after the first one!

(note: This review was written a long time before the recently released 2010 Special edition)
