#OpeningTheme - DragonBall Super

There's a new Dragon Ball series airing in Japan - Dragon Ball Super.

I still doubt it will totally replace/retcon Dragon Ball GT since Toei is still using GT quite a lot in merchandising/promotions/games and only American fans are really saying Super will make GT non-canon. Why? Because it still takes place before the ending of the manga/final tournament in the epilogue chapter. And fans considered the "God Saiyan" superform to replace the regular SSJ power ups while the following opening still shows Goku using his SSJ/SSJ3/etc. forms instead of the new "God" ability:

Sounds fun. If, not entirely iconic/catchy. Way too generic "anime opening".

#Anime NEWS! And the 2014 Ghibli movie will be...

First up a little clip of Kaze Tachinu ("The Wind Rises"), the upcoming new Miyazaki animated film out in most places around the world this January.

And some news regarding the new following movie.

The new 2014 Studio Ghibli feature is titled Omoide no Marnie ("Marnie's memories").

It is based on one of Miyazaki's own favorite classic books, When Marnie Was There by Joan G. Robinson. 

It will be directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (Arrietty), marking his second feature film, so I guess that means he's officially taking over Miyazaki and Takahata?

Did you know we almost got a ZELDA movie at some point?

And no. Not another cringe-worthy Hollywood lackbuster, but an animated CGi film?!

Produced by Imagi Studios from whom we got the Astro Boy movie, the "mmmh..okay, but decent" TMNT CGi film and that Gatchaman film that never got made.

They pitched the film adaptation back in 2007 in the form of the video below... but it sadly never got greenlighted by Nintendo!

You know what?

This actually looked fairly decent. Not sure I'm 100% fan of all the design choices, but at least they tried to make it their own new incarnation of Link & the world of Zelda, rather than simply recycling either Toon!Link or Ocarina!Link. (like, say, Nintendo these days..)

#DeletedScenes - Marvin the Martian

Here's a fun factoid.
Did you know that at some point we almost got a third Looney Tunes live-action movie?

But unlike the others we got, this one wasn't gonna mix hand drawn animated characters next to people but CGi cartoons!!

Yeah, it was back when CG was all the rage.
(it still is, but now mostly aimed at kids)

Anyways, story goes back in 2008 Warner went to Alcon Entertainment to produce this live action/animated movie.
They even got Mike Myers fresh off his popularity with the Austin Powers films and the quite popular Shrek franchise.
The story would have followed Marvin has he tried to destroy Earth around Christmas (!).
Christopher Lee would have played Santa Claus himself (!!).

So obviously, with such "brilliant plans" behind the film, it was bound to be a success, right?
Well after some test footage they canned it despite its scheduled release being announced and all. (October 7 2011)
