I loved how my favorite French standup comedian, Gad Elmaleh, went to the US and tried doing standup in America for a while. Even if it mean going to open mics and starting back at the bottom. He even achieved a relatively decent modest success before putting a stop to this experience.

Which is great because we can now find a lot of his translated bits in English all over the web, check out this appearance on Conan from 2016:
