Who ever expected that? I remember some test pilot from adult swim for a possible animated version of Scott Pilgrim.. but here we finally are. 2023. An animated version of Scott Pilgrim is finally a reality, and it will both look close to the original Graphic Novels and feature the actual cast of the live action film!
And it looks gorgeous!
Scott Pilgrim Anime coming to Netflix November 17th
Alright. This long-rumored Tim Burton-produced project sorta came out of nowhere... but.. I dunno, I kinda dig the casting (like the recent animated film's casting). I just wish it was a feature film instead of stretching a non-existant plot into a non-episodic show. I can already smell the slow and boring filler episodes from here. That's what you get from the current race for content in our digital streaming platforms-age.
Also, props to the new Wednesday actress, she seems to nail the role!
Alright. Color me intrigued.
This is probably all from the first/pilot episode, I'm guessing? So Sonic facing Shadow encounter Eggman, break open the multiverse and Sonic is lost in space and time trying to find a way back to his prime universe. Did I get it right? See you in about a year to check it back.
Mike Myers is back in a Netflix series I can totally imagine started as a Austin Powers project/revival but ended up as something... else..
Enjoy the trailer!
The Pentaverate premieres 05.05.22 on Netflix.
So there's gonna be another TCM film. And yes, it is yet another reboot.. I dunno how to take this in. I loved the two first films, for different reasons, but I'm kind of tired of this series. Is this what's awaiting to happen to all other long-running film franchises??
Anyways, here's the trailer:
Coming directly to streaming, made by a no-name director and random film studio.. Release Date: February 18, 2022
I kinda lost the hype for this show.. year-long format of shows kinda lose me after a few years.. but anyways, here's Season 4 trailer! Things are still looking pretty weird and mysterious in this little town:
You know what this made me realize? I would love to have new episodes for Gravity Falls instead..
The new season of CAMP CRETACEOUS is looking pretty neat! And weird! And fun! But strange!
I like the continuation and exploration of the JP lore. The return of my favorite boi, the Spinosaur!
I don't like the overthly scifi look it's taking, is this the direction of the new JW films? Holograms and whatnot. Plus that weird Sabertooth there at the end...
The upcoming Netflix Cowboy Bebop series is looking slightly better in this new trailer.. but, man.. I guess I'm just tired ot adaptations in general, and specially Hollywood ones. Why does American need to redo everything... popular Asian horror films, French comedies and now animes/mangas...
Despite what people have been crying about online, the only thing that is slowly growing on me is this show's version of Faye. The actress seems cute and the character pretty fun. The rest..
What’s the point of a live action adaptation anyways? Everything looks like bad cosplay to me...
It's not nice to judge a book by its cover.
But in this case, I can already "feel" the final product. And believe me, I've seen ton of stuff. Just on a live action manga/anime spectrum, we're far off the fun insanity of a Speed Racer or the beautiful take on Rurouni Kenshin. I'm getting some cheap-o US Death Note vibes mixed with some amateurish fanfilm overtone... WAIT AND SEE!
An all-time fan favorite classic original comic book series by Jeff Lemire comes to the small screen! In the form of Sweet Tooth, on Netflix.
I was a big fan of the comic. I know people are hyped for this one. I... don't know. Half of the reason why I like, enjoy and read comics is the art. And losing Jeff Lemire's personal art style is half of the reason why I don't feel much attracted to the live action series. Wait and see..
Some things should remain in one media, but Hollywood feels like everything has to be filmed, funny books, toys, boardgames, Legos, M&Ms, Tetris, Pong... Sigh.. America, y'all...
Here's a first glimpse at Kid Cosmic.
An upcoming all-age cartoon coming to Netflix, coming from Wonder Over Yonder/Powerpuff Girls/Foster’s Home creator, Craig McCracken.
This one seems to aim specifically at the younger crowd, but it does look pretty nice. Colorful and very comic strip. It follows a young kid who discovers one of the five cosmic rings. The rings grant the kid and some of his best friends (whether they be human or kitty cat) super powers! Such as flight, future sight and teleportation!
Check it out:
Kid Cosmic drops on Netflix on February 2.
I'm glad they're still making more episodes of this!
And HOLY MOLEY! New Cobra Kai trailer!! Season 3 will not be streaming on Netflix. And I've been waiting so long to hear news from this one:
But new/recent show. It hit all the right nostalgia notes, becomes so much more and something on such an epic scale (despite..well, actually being a nostalgic show about people doing karaté). And I love it! Can't wait! Was that Okinawa? Are we getting on Karaté Kid-sequels territory? Is there any chance to see some New Karaté Kid/Hilary Swank at some point? Can't wait!!!
Continuing with the news-catching up,
apparently there's going to be a new Sonic animated series. Which I honestly kinda expected, with Sonic Boom (the cartoon) finished and the 30th anniversary coming up next year.
What I didn't expect was for it to be a Netflix exclusive.
Not quite on board with the studio animating it and the people behind it... wait and see..
I expect more self-contained stories, comedic tone. To be blunt: more action-y than Sonic Boom, less comediy than Sonic Boom, but less storialized than Sonic SatAM or Sonic X.
I like Hilda. It's like the only current modern cartoon thatI find remotely interesting and captivating. Exagerating a bit. But I might enjoy the new Adventure Time specials or the return of Animaniacs, but these are actually, well, "revivals". Not new modern cartoons, in my opinion.
Anyways, getting sidetracked here. Check out this lovely trailer for season 2:
For long time JP fans, the Netflix animated series Camp Cretaceous turned out to be a nice surprise while we wait for the new film.
And already the (short) first season is behind us, a second one is already announced behind the corner. Check this out, there's plenty of intriguing new plots and little references in the new teaser for season 2:
And I'm inserting the first season trailer as well, in case you wanna check it out as well:
