X-Men, the ANIMated series...

Hello bloggers, readers... well, you 3 or 4 dudes/gals reading this very line : P

Some trivia/fun/funny fact for today!

You remember that 90s X-men animated series?

I love this catchy opening theme. A cult classic forever!

I've always prefered DC animation in general. Even if I grew up with Marvel comics mostly... The DC ones seemed better done, both in animation and story-wise, all under Bruce Timm's creative mind. But the early 90s Spider-man and X-men series really captivated me... The score was brilliant, the voice actors (in french when I was a kid and the original english one that I rewatched later on) were perfect. Spider-man re-used a lot of footage, quick shots, big animated movements (see Venom specially...).
So I kinda prefered X-men... Hey! There were Jubilee and Rogue :'3

X-men was very well done. Look at that opening theme! The actual show wasn't that bad compared to it nor very far away from it's quality, unlike some other cartoons. (Transformers?... G.I.Joe?...)

But it seems it wasn't that great enough for Japan.

SHOCK!!! Holy f... sh... WHAT DA...?!

Woow!
Did you know a japanese studio created an introduction specially for their audience??
It's.. woow! I like how close they stayed to the original design (they couldn't redraw the episodes ya know!)
The music...is different... But quite epic!! SHOCK!!!

Charles Xavier is such a pimp : P

APOCALYPSE kicks ass in this 2nd opening!

The music is a bit less dynamic here, but the picture is a lot more impressive here!
APOCALYPSE is huuuuuuuuge~

I love all the Anime sound effects, characters fighting in the air and all the cliché moments in those 2 opening videos! It kinda works with the X-men somehow...

I would so watch a whole japanese X-men show.

VGR Elevator Action2 Returns

Talk about a classic arcade game.
This time a Sega Saturn game that is actually 2 classic arcade games in one!

I was going to upload some brand new reviews, not old deviantArt stuff anymore, but since it was the last one I think...

After this one, coming up next (this weekend or early next week), a movie review (clue: SW) and a comic review (clue: Frank Miller).

VGR PoP2 The Shadow and the Flame

I know some people may like it, but this is, like always, my own personal opinion on this game :P
I'm a huuuuuuge fan of the original...It's the kind of game I play at least once per year, and it never gets old.
But the second one.. it's...another thing....

PS: This is for the console ports! I still haven't tried the DOS/MAC versions! This is for the SNES and unreleased MD versions!

Edit2010/09/02: Updated template to current one instead of the huge JPG picture I had before.

NEWS! Warner Bros. Animation new shows!

Man... I'm almost a bit late with this news (had it for ~a day), because I was working on some "ad" for this blog... Anyway...

The current convention at Chicago (the C2E2) brought one great news to me.
(not that I was there, I'm kinda in a whole different continent from there : P)
The Warner Bros. Animation studios have been pretty busy these last years, which is great. Reminds me of an era where they produced such cult classics as Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Batman, Freakazoid, Justice League,etc..

Lately, they've been animating great stuff like Batman: the Brave & the Bold and the DC animated movies.

And now they announced new shows!

First up, the return of the Looney tunes for a brand new age!
Whoa! Look at this art style! It's different from past designs but so dynamic!

This one will look great if well animated! There wasn't any real Looney Tunes show since the bunch of solo shorts made around the movie Back in Action and the Duck Dodgers cartoon series from Cartoon Network.
It has that "retro-ysh" look of the current Pink Panther cartoon serie. I'm lovin' it so far!
Not much info here but it will start around this fall to next year... *crosses fingers for something good*

The second show that intrigues me is the Young Justice one.

Woah! Look at that! Arrowette, Superboy and Miss Martian in a mainstream show?!

Not much is know for this one. It has been rumoured for a while and a bunch informations on the voice actors have been leaked.
It is based on a great not very well known DC comic series of the same name.
Will it use the Teen Titans' approach? The more serious Justice League way? Or something new? Wait and see~

In the comics, the main members are Impulse (changed here to kid flash), Superboy (normally his younger leather-jacket appearance) and Tim/Robin (with his red and green 1st costume changed here to the recent red One Year Later costume). They seem to improvised on the black dude on the firstground (aqualad? young BlackLightning? random new guy?), they could have used Static Shock who's a kickass character who even had his own show. Arrowette has a GreenArrow-ysh look. Which is nice. Miss Martian from the recent Teen Titans comic seems to replace Wondergirl. Strange. But since I like the Martian girl... :'3

Anyway, lots of other great shows have been announced, but those are the only ones who caught my attention~

VGR LeChuck's Revenge

And here's MONKEY ISLAND 2!

Very great sequel! One of the best example of how good a sequel should always be, even if they released it only a year after the first one!

(note: This review was written a long time before the recently released 2010 Special edition)

VGR Bonk 1

Here's a game I really like, a underrated cult favorite of mine.
Despite it being almost forgotten nowadays, I consider it as one of the nicest 2D old school platformer!
The sequels are kinda better, but that's for another review another time!

The system is known as the TurboGrafx-16 in the USA but I always use the official names or international names in my reviews!

PS: YEAH! I know there's a new BONK 2,5D game coming on Xbox live. But THIS is about the first, the original Bonk!

NEWS! ABC on digital demand

So... SEGA's Arcade classic AFTER BURNER CLIMAX is out on Xbox live (and I guess PSN too) right now!

What are you waiting for?!
If you're a GAMER, Guy gamer or Girl gamer, this is something you SOULDN'T miss ; )
From what I've seen so far, it's a perfect arcade port from one of the greatest Sega/AM2 game!

This legendary game is one of the most loved modern arcade game and is now available, even for those who can't find an arcade lobby where they live! Don't hesitate, go for it~
It is the sequel of cult 16 bit SEGA game which was released on Master System and Megadrive back then.

(I know my bro's loving it so far! He won't need to spend money on a train just to move many miles away to spend more money on that arcade cabinet now : P)

NEWS! BATMAN Under the Red Hood trailer

Warner Bros Studios/DC Animation have been making some very good direct to video movies lately. Ever since Superman: Doomsday in 2007, they've been releasing around ~2 movies per year.

Next up is Batman: Under the Red Hood, based on a comic series by Judd Winick (Batman: Under the Hood).
We only had some informations about the casting and crew making this one. Now we have a trailer and a look at the beautiful DVD/Bluray cover:

WhaaaaHOooo! This would make an amazing poster!

And here's the trailer, enjoy!

It's expected for a July 27, 2010 release date.

VGR Resident Evil 3 Nemesis

This is my personal opinion! You may disagree and prefer RE3 over the first 2 games...
I really like NEMESIS itself, the monster, how it looks, what we have to do about this guy...
But the game itself really could have been just a 3rd CD/scenario for Resident Evil 2.Sort of an expansion to RE2. It looks very similar, use the same period of time and places... (of course with some modification or it would have been a pretty cheap move from Capcom!)

At least it added a new gimmick used in all RE games since that (quick turn: A+backwards)

Update Sep/11/2010: Edited the old huge JPG picture to the layout I use in the reviews now.
