Deadpool is patrolling YOUR streets!

Either Deadpool finally made it past the 4h wall...or some loony is kinda taking the whole "Super heroes" a bit much seriously.

Anyway, a guy's "protecting the streets" of Wenatchee, in north-central Washington city. A city of approximately 30,000 residents.
He's donning so by doning Deadpool's trademark costume and posting flyers all over the street.

Nowadays, it's not uncommun to see "real life" superheroes in small towns. What with all their popularity these days and all those movies Hollywood keeps putting out.
But usually they make their own super hero identity.
This guy decided to go for Marvel Comics' own "Merc With A Mouth". (Disney/Marvel will probably send him a lawsuit by the end of the week)
This is dangerous PR for Marvel, on one hand he's doing free advertisement for one of their B-Listers..on another, this could backfire...imagine the press and the medias all over Marvel if this guy ended up dead or beaten in a dark alley...yuck...

Wenatchee's Deadpool said he chose his character "because I allied with his humor and his ideal that what once was bad can become something better and good. .... And not his outlook on heroism or his methods." [...] Deadpool said the idea to dress up and help people "just came to me one day."
He acknowledged, however, that the costume thing has its drawbacks. It makes him hot when the sun's out, and it seems to put some people off.
"I tried to help a woman out of the rain the other day and she didn't really want to take my umbrella," he said. "I think she was kind of intimidated."
Deadpool has been putting up flyers around town so people know what he's up to and won't be alarmed when he rushes to help them. He asks anyone who needs help with just about anything to contact him via email at ncwdeadpool@hotmail.com.

So, you wanna help and picked up the crazy killer/psychopath/mercenary from Marvel's library? The walkin' lunatic, the regeneratin' degenerate?
(I'm waiting for the moment he'll declare it's because he read my Heroes! parody)

Anyway. we'll all sleep better knowing there's DEADPOOL patrolling ANOTHER city than ours :P
Ha!

(your costume rocks!)
(and can you confirm you're not actually working for Marvel, simply doing some viral marketing for an upcoming movie??)

"Hello l~aaady..."
*ignores*
"Awww..." :(

Introducing Deadpool - the Merc With A Mouth!

Outcast Studios - LIVE DRAW NIGHT May 2011

So, last night at the Outcast forums, we had another one of our "Live Draw Nights", where a dozen or so comic fans spend hours drawing characters after characters.

http://outcaststudios.com/forums/
It's a very fun challenge, it provides such an interesting and challenging practice session.
It's divided into 4 hours, were we:
- Draw 5-10 minutes characters on the first hour
- We draw half hour sketches the second hour
- Had an interesting rule in the 3rd one, do a "costume swap"
- Finish the last 4th hour with a much more challenging and complete drawing, based on someone's cosplay (this time, it was a pretty professional Iron Man cosplay)

There were some very interesting choices amongst the subject, they weren't even all comic book-related!

Let's check out some of the pics I've drawn last night, if you please!

AtoZ - G is for... GOLD like Booster Gold

Eyz' ComicBook Alphabet Challenge!
Today, G is for... GOLD like Booster Gold!!

I simply had to draw Booster at some point. I guess I surprised some of my usual watched when I didn't use him for "B", heh? :P

ComicPageOfTheWeekend: Plastic Man and Giffen's guys

I told you last time I'd love to see the Ambush Bug tag along Plastic Man more often...
But I'd love even more to see Keith Giffen's own Ambush Bug tag along his other 4th wall breaking nutjob The Heckler even more...
And when you put all those three together, well, it's even tons of time better! :D

(Click for bigger pic)

Sidenote: This is the only time the Heckler (re)appeared, outside his own miniseries. -sigh-

Drawing some cards

Here's some recent drawings I did. Thought it could be nice to share them on the blog :P

I've been reading lots of Spider-girl lately.
Thought I should finally try drawing her for once :P

And for some reason, drawing the Spider-girl above made me think of Evangelion. (was it the short hair?)
Then I realized how little Rei drawings I did or were in my deviantArt gallery.

So, here's one more!

And finally the last one.
One more of these "card"-type pics, and I'll stop, promise!

Thought it could be fun drawing Death herself!

(Read Neil Gaiman SANDMAN-related comic books!)

That is all~
Enjoy :'3

My favorite scenes from Disney Movies: Digga Tunnah

I love animation.
Classic "2D" "hand drawn" animation that is.
I think that as a cartoonist/illustrator, it should always by what we strive for, what we should try to reach even if paper drawings won't be animated. Giving a sense of movement and all that.

Anyway, I love Disney movies. I usually dislike the idea of making sequels to these timeless classics. And most of the times those direct-to-DVD sequels come pretty short on what was made before. But the Lion King 1/2 (or Lion King 3) is easily the best attempt they've ever done.

Here's the awesome song that opens and closes this prequel/sequel/interquel/parody:

ComicPanelsOfTheWeek: Justice League of Anarky

'love Ambush Bug, 'love Plastic Man too.
And I'd love to see this "team-up" more often.

CBR Tron: Betrayal

With Tron revival recently, Disney decided to try capitalize on this newly acquired fame and make some profit on the mainstream appeal the franchise was getting.

Thus, they decided to make some tie-ins around the release of Tron: Legacy.
Prequels.
Like Tron already had in the past while there wasn't a movie around, a new game and a new comic.
This is a review of the comic book that was released before the new Tron movie.

Jimmy Kimmel - Twilight

Time for another Jimmy Kimmel post!

Twilight might be one of the worst concept people dared to commercialize and yet the mainstream audience bought it as easily as they did junk food, bland celeb music and reality shows...

Anyway, in the ends of Kimmel and his trustworthy sidekick Guillermo, it doesn't look that bad:

And if this redub let you could, here's "Guillermo in Twilight":

CBR:Quickies Ambush Bug comics

Somehow, you've manage to go through Ambush Bug's first and second miniseries.
And for some reason, you didn't go insane and you're even asking for more of it?

Well, don't say I didn't warn you.
There you have it....

Drawings: Batgirls

Here's an oldie, but a goodie.

From March 10, 2010 it seems.
This was before they recently announced Cassie would be back as "BlackBat" part of the  Batman Inc. concept.
'Thought the blog could use some more of my own drawings :P

  • " 90s Batgirl Cassandra Cain teaming up with the current Batgirl Stephanie Brown! :'3

They both kick ass and I am still waiting for this team up to happen in the books! Do you hear me DC/Dan Didio/Jim Lee? Make it happen!! >__<"

Movie NEWS! GL movie book

Universe Publishing will be releasing Constructing Green Lantern: From Page to Screen, a sort of making-of book as movie tend to have these days.
Scifi aficionados love this stuff, and with Green Lantern I guess it can be neat to have a look at various alien designs, concept arts, etc..

It will offer a look at some elements from the movie, like all the various designs they used for Sinestro before settling for this pretty cool interpretation of the famous GL villain.

Gamin' NEWS! Hedgehog and ninjas

Seems like the upcoming Sonic Generations' just been confirmed to appear on Nintendo's 3-dimensional DS. (sounds classier that way, right?)
I guess it's gonna be another Sonic Rush alike title, kinda how Sonic Colours was on the DS as well.

And with the same cover, Nintendo Power also leaked the unannounced news that a new Shinobi will also be released on the same system. Awesome. I love this series^^
It seems it's being developed by Griptonite Games, a specialist of the handheld systems. Let's hope it's not a low-cost revival of the series but an actual brand new episode :P

VGR Duke Nukem 3D

Long before sequels started using "3D" as numbering sequence for third installments, when the actual 3D used to stand for graphics and not reliefs and when it was still a pretty new thing in gaming..... came the King of all shooters, DUKE NUKEM! (that's what she said!)

If Doom & Wolfenstein 3D are the grandfathers of the genre, Duke sure is the undisputed King to the title.

After two simple Dos sidescroller (as seen in Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem 2), Apogee, by then 3D Realms, came back with an all-new Duke using a completely different engine, with new gameplay mechanics yet still pretty similar to its predecessors at heart.
The rest is now history...

TV News! WW canceled

Oh yeah, I don't know if you guys followed it, but that cominc-up new Wonder Woman TV show?
It has been canceled without airing.

It seems the producers didn't like the product and so the pilot will not even air on TV.
I guess it's for the best in end.
Good or bad, the reception so far, from the few people who were able to grab a copy of the pilot before it got pulled out, didn't like it much.
I don't know if a bad WW TV show would have been good, for the character at least.

Giving a Wonder Woman series to "the crew behind Ally McBeal", didn't sound like a good move anyway. I wouldn't like a show were Diana worries about her breast size, goes shopping and spends time talking girly stuff with her roomate.
Diana is afterall the strongest woman from comics, an Amazon first of all and the "Goddess of Truth"/a warrior born.
She should be strong, spend her time protecting and helping people out and trying to promote peace and equality as the Amazons' emissary.

I believe there's still hope for a better Wonder Woman adaptation, be it on TV again or in a movie finally.
Just look at her excellent portrayal in the direct-to-DVD movie from Warner Bros Animations.
Just stay close to George Pérez 80s reboot.
Or give it to Gail Simone (as writer) or Joss Whedon (as director/producer) or anyone else that won't disguise a girly/gritty take on that Bionic Woman reboot underneath this project.

AwesomeCosplay Pic of the day: Wrex?

Today, let's check some Mass Effect cosplay!
This team was seen together at last year's San Diego ComiCon.

Here's a femShepard...

Nifty work on the shiny armour!

A mighty impressive Tali might I say!
And :'3

No Wrex :/
Grunt is his name!

And finally the Illusive Man.
Well, it's probably not the more impressive or complicated cosplay to do... but at least someone did this character, I guess!

MythToons

Here's a great funny MythBusters sequence, from the cartoons special episode:

I just love this show, great to pass some time yet learn something everytime!

Jimmy Kimmel - The Bourne Ultimatum

I don't really follow talk-shows.
You know, Jay Leno, David Letterman, O'Brien and the likes.

For one, I do not live in America.

And two, I've never really been into "people", you know celebrities, etc..
So watching two "popular" nobodies talking together about random subjects, their career, their fortune... Not much for me.

Anyway, I do like watching Jimmy Kimmel once in a while.
The guy's funny!
And he's obviously a passionate about many subjects (Lost, ..) which I happen to usually like to.

And he's got these hilarious "parody" segments, with this Guillermo guy. Little random spoofs related to the guest he's having.

Today, let's check out The Bourne Ultimatum:

Oh, and I like this random rivalry between Matt Damon and Kimmel, a sort of running joke they have.

Fighting NEWS! New Namco stuff~

Here's some video game news for the day.
Exclusively, fighting game-related.
And also..

related.

Paradox Shift

Check out this FPS!
It's a project from some students of the University of Southern California. A puzzle-like game in the same spirit as Portal.
But for once, the idea isn't moving through space, but through time!
Armed with a time travel gun, you have to play with this interesting gimmick that simply isn't just enough used.
(I'm sick of all these "gravitiy guns" in games, I wanna play with time instead!)

I like the idea of this new genre of "smart" FPS inspired by Portal. Much better than all those war games like Call of Duty, etc..

VGR The Flash

Did you know there was a game about the Scarlet Speedster?
No?

Nowadays, when you think about superheroes (or just comic book) video games, you mostly think about movie tie-ins and cartoon-related adaptations, right?
But back during the golden age of gaming, during the 8 and 16-bits era, comics-to-games were legion.
And also, they were often pretty good.
A lot of these came on the NES, Super Nintendo and Megadrive. American comics like the X-men, Spider-man, but also European comics such as the Smurfs, Lucky Luke, Asterix, and also lots of Mangas from Dragon Ball to Astroboy, Mazinger, Tatsunoko productions, etc..

Today, let's check out one of those, a pretty obscure one, on one of my favorite videogame systems ever...

Deleted Scenes - The Flash game that never was..

If only they could give the Flash a videogame...

Well, the Flash actually had a game already. But that was in the early 90s, on the Sega Master System.
Anyway, that one was a long time ago, during videogame's early 8-bits days.
I always felt that he was the kind of character that could actually get a pretty decent game if the speed-gimmick was well thought.

Wouldn't it be perfect to represent such an abstract notion as the "Speed Force" ?
Even more so than an actual live movie/tv show/cartoon? Imagine speeding through a city, zipping around immobile villains, having a duel with other speedsters and playing around with time!

Well, that's probably what also though the guys at Bottlerocket Entertainment, the studio behind the modern Splatterhouse. They started working on The Flash....but sadly the game never saw the light of the day... Hte company shut down not long after that.

Today I'd like to take this occasion to show everything I was able to find about this game that never got released!

Batman Inc drawings

Here's some of my own drawings for a change~

Blackbat
First off, Cassandra Cain is back to kickin' asses! I wanted to have a try at her new look already :P

I like new costumes usually, and this new one's pretty simple and cool :P
Love the nod in her new codename at Black Bat, an obscure golden age character which debuted around the same time as Batman/Detective Comics #1.

Nightrunner
Since I was in the middle of drawing modern Bat-related costumes, I had to take a kick with Nightrunner - The French Batman!

I love this guy! Nice Nightwing-inspired design.
(and Dick's the one who's training him, so...)

A parkour guy, right? How could a modern French character not be a parkour guy, am I right? XD
(they're everywhere! in videogames, movies,..)

And that is all~
Hope you like 'em!
