Personally I'm not expecting a lot to come off this year's E3. In fact a lot of great titles showed last year haven't exactly come out just yet (looking at The Last Guardian and Mass Effect Andromeda for example). Anyways, let's see what has come out of the show so far...
Yesterday were the conferences of EA and Bethesda. Today's Microsoft, Ubisoft and Sony. And tomorrow will be Nintendo's. Let's hope we get some nice little surprises and not just more videos of what they announced through the year so far.
First up, we finally have a look at the adventure game Batman: The Telltale Series, which debuts this summer:
These stills actually look good. I'm fairly certain the adventure genre will perfectly suit Batman, and it will be a nice break from all these sandbox/brawler type games for the license. It certainly will help highlight other parts of Batman a lot of the games and films ignored so far - his detective skills! And I love the comic book-art style. But we'll have to see this in motion, Telltale doesn't always have the best animations...
Telltale’s vision of Batman will feature an award-winning cast of talent, including Troy Baker in the role of Bruce Wayne,Travis Willingham as Harvey Dent, Erin Yvette as Vicki Vale, Enn Reitel as Alfred Pennyworth, Murphy Guyer as Lieutenant James Gordon, Richard McGonagle as Carmine Falcone, and Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle.Nice voice cast!
Meanwhile EA announced they're actually working on a bunch of Star Wars-related game, it's nice to see them pick it up from LucasArts.
I'm mostly intrigued by the action-adventure game from ex-Naughty Dogs devs, it looks a little bit Uncharted-ysh, which suits the IP.
Nintendo revealed a couple of new pictures for their upcoming Legend of Zelda Wii U game:
I suppose this means we'll be getting a proper new look at the game come their conference?
While I can't say I played the last game, I gotta admit I'm kinda intrigued by Dishonored 2. Here's a trailer and some gameplay:
The biggest surprise to me is that Prey 2 is finally back on track! Long rumored, delayed and even canceled a few times. Only now it will just be called Prey. And it's apparently aimed at PS4, Xbox One and PC next year.
Here’s a trailer:
Seems like the previous concept and build was completely scratched (no more scifi bounty hunter... sigh..) and reimagined from the ground up as a spiritual successor of sorts to System Shock 2! What?! At least it seems nice.
Speaking of Bethesda, they also revealed what's next for id - the return of Quake! The Quake 3 Arena-side of that franchise, though.
That's right, a new Quake arena shooter! In this day of Overwatch or other Team Fortress clones, I expect great many things from this one. It is called Quake Champions:
Looks very Quake-ysh, in fact it reminds me of the cutscene intro of Quake 3. Lots of Quake-stuff Stroggs, gothic architecture, jump pads, etc. People fear the new game will be class-based, but I think nothing's sure just yet. Did they even play the original Quake 3? All those characters had distinct looks and personalities as well!
All of classic id is slowly coming back, all we need now is a proper Lovecraftian Quake 1 as well. And where is Commander Keen?!
And finally, just like last year, EA teased Mass Effect Andromeda again. Only this time with some behind the scene stuff and some actual look at the gameplay:
The game sure looks slick! And it seems it will give us the cutest asari yet!
Stay tuned for more!
