Here's some recent news about comics adaptions.
The brave and the bold! Coming soon to a theatre near you!!
The animated flick Batman: Under the Red Hood is coming soon, in July 27 in fact!
Since I really dig the graphic novel it's based on, I'm really anticipating this one's release^^
It will come with some nice little goodies. Thanks to the recent pic of the back of the box, we know have something else to look forward to!
The movie, some Bruce Timm-verse episodes, the expected Jonah Hex short..and..wait what??
Yeah, that's right! A sneak peak at DC's next animated movie!
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse!
A follow-up to DC's previous animated movie Superman/Batman: Public Enemies? Probably!
It sounds like it will be an original story this time, not a direct adaptation of the Superman/Batman books.
...Or is it??
The second book was about Supergirl, but had Darkseid against our heroes on Apokolips (a DC universe planet where the villain live and rule on). Could this new movie be just that second story under a different name? Maybe...
("Under the Hood" was changed "Under the Red Hood" afterall!)
Also, here's some great Jonah Hex news, since I'm a bit traumatised by the live Jonah Hex movie.
Looks EPIC and tons better than live lackbuster Hex.
This new DC Showcase will be included with the Under the Red Hood feature.
Looks a lot closer to Hex in design. Why couldn't they just make the live movie into a real badass Western instead of that summer popcorn corny flick...
Anyway, someone's really happy with that, Thomas Jane.
A big fan of the character of Jonah Hex, Tom Jane wanted to be part of the movie when he first heard about that.
That's why he had a FX friend help him making a nice fake-Jonah Hex leaked pic and let it spread across the internet, hoping to finally get the role that way.
In case you haven't seen the pic before, here it is:
Click for a better look!
That was actually a lot better than what they ended up in the movie. At least the face looks more disfigured, we see some teeth and he even has that serious western look.
The actual live Jonah Hex will look cheaper, not that much burnt (not talking about the Hex using hexes, rising dead armies and other crap the final plot has).
...
Anyway, why are we talking about Tom Jane here?
Oh yes, the animated short Jonah Hex and "someone [will be] really happy with that".
Well, Tom Jane will finally be Jonah Hex in the end, not the live one but the voice of the closer and true to its blasted roots animated Jonah Hex!
"In blackest day or brightest night
Watermelon, cantaloupe, yadda yadda
Erm... superstitious and cowardly lot
With liberty and justice for all!"
With the Green Lantern movie coming up, great expectations and a ton of good reactions for the moment,
DC finally made some announcement in regards to their future project.
First of all, there's gonna be a Green Lantern animated series on Cartoon Network!
Not, that pic above isn't from it, but from the excellent Duck Dodgers series.
No informations if it will follow the previous work or at least use the artstyle of Bruce Timm.
Maybe a spin off series from Green Lantern: First Flight (the recent animated movie)?
It will start for the 2011/2012 seasons acccording to the recent Press Release.
Also, alongside the home release of the new animated movie Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, rumours were confirmed that we'll finally get a Green Arrow DC Showcase (a short cartoon).
Note from a future movie, but from a 90s live series. A great one at that!
One the live part, DC announced their plans to finally make some non-Batman/Superman movies!
Afterall, we only got up til now Superman movies, then a spinoff - Supergirl, then Batman movies and a reboot of the franchise and a Bat-related (awful) movie - Catwoman.
Sure they made Watchmen, some Vertigo comics adaption (Constantine, V for Vendetta..), but no other real DC comics propriety!
Since the Green Lantern's not a dream anymore, and the Flash had already a live series, the movie The Flash will be the next one to have an adaptation!
I'm guessing around end 2011 to early 2013.
The third Nolan's Batman already have his release date of July 20, 2012.
And Superman is already back on track for a release date around the same year. Seems like the Nolan borthers really meant it, when they said they would bring Superman back on screen!
Also on the same PR (Press Release) there were some mentions of maybe Aquaman and Wonder Woman next, but I wouldn't take this really seriously. They announce those two every year... (really!)
Duuude! There's like a giant rat in our sewers! Like, cowabunga and stuff! Duuuude!!
On a non-DC Comics news, the new adaptation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is finally back on track.
After a positive first reaction (live movie, costumes and not CG..) the movie kinda disappeared from everybody's radar.
It was because of a lack of producer.
The movie can finally move on thanks to...wait for it... Michael Bay (DUUH DUUH DUUUUUH~)
Don't worry guys and don't start spreading anti-Bay hate comments everywhere!
It will be made not by Michael Bay, but his little side production company Platinum Dunes, which he does not direct or supervise directly.
They already made the new rebooted/remade Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
This will be their first non-horror movie.
It a really nice deal if you think about it. They will give the TMNT crew means and budget to make the movie!
Bay won't CGi it and have a direct impact on it.
Jason was great! TCM was pretty cool. Freddy was.. not as good.
We can hope for something decent at least!
That's all for now folks, Eyz out-
That, only "the latest animated DC movies".
ReplyDeleteThe local comic store has only been able to get their hands on the latest releases such as Public Enemies, Crisis of two earths... They'll probably get the Under the Red hood as well.
But the older ones...no chance so far :/
